| I'm sorry you're having a little bit of a hard time with this little girl. I too am glad she's out of a shelter enviroment and in a nice warm loving home. I'm sorry I can't offer advice, I've never had any furry pet ever, but you are amoung freinds and I know there are people here that can offer you really good advice! I'm sending you and this baby a million hugs and tons of prayers. By the way, does she have a name??

| you can pick up some diapers at petco or petsmart for now and i am sure someone will send you female belly band. Does she have some eye ointment that she came with like neosporin type stuff? If not call your vet and tell them you have a rescue and they usually discount services for rescues and see if there is an ointment that can help to stop it being so itchy. You may want to get some rescue remedy and rub on her ears as that is suppose to be calming and safe not alot just a little dab and rub on back of ears as that is a point for calming I have read that can help as she is probably scared and confused poor thing. You are an awesome person to save this girl -- we will all try to help you - join petvetcafe@yahoogroups.com and i will post on there right now about the eye- do you know what the surgery was for ? cataract? or eye removal? |

| Poor little thing is probably terrified! You have, as everyone has said, done a wonderful thing for her! For now, I would limit where she goes in the house. Keep her confined to a smaller area for now until she gets used to that. Since she cannot see out of one eye, and probably has limited or no vision in the other, she needs time to figure out her surroundings. That will also keep her from piddling everywhere until you can find out why she is doing that and see if it can be addressed. She might just have a urinary tract infection. Not sure about the blood...that is a concern, but nothing you can do until she sees a vet. They do make darling little panties for the girls....for now I would go to the store and buy disposable baby diapers and cut a place for her tail. Measure her first so you can get an idea what size to buy..I would think newborn? You definitely want to get her to a vet as soon as possible...I do not know your group's policies on that except that I do think your president wants a telephone call beyond the real basic exam. I am sure your state director can advise you. As for her eye....I had one that I finally had to put two E-collars on to prevent him from hurting himself. One was a hard one, one was soft. The soft ones tend to be a bit longer (stick away from the face). Unfortunately, the hard ones....when small enough to fit the neck, often are not long enough and they can rub their eyes. Maybe for now you can add something to it? Take a piece of soft fabric and make your own? Something that would fit under the one you have..it would also make it softer for her against her face. What kind of surgery did they do? Who did it? Do you know? How does that incision look? I am hopeful you can get her to a vet asap. I always get mine in the day I get them...but, if on a weekend, then on Monday. Hopefully your vet takes them in right away like that...and hopefully your group approves which I am sure they do. Thank you again....she is so lucky that you got her! Once she settles, she will be better and she will be so grateful to you! Just give her a few days to get used to her new surroundings. I so love these seniors..they have lots of love to give. They spent their entire lives giving their unconditional love to someone only to be discarded when they needed that love back. You are a wonderful person to give her that! |

| I just read a couple of my post sorry for all the mispellings. I only slept about 2 hours. This is what her paperwork says. "Her left eye was ruptured and infected. removed on 12/15. Her right eye with mucopurulent ocular/discharge/entropion/ micropothalmia. Swollen vulva with bloody discharge-possible in heat? Severe periodontal ds-heavy dental ds. kennel cough exposure. Cardiac problem" Do I need to worry about the other dogs because it says kennel cough exposure? Her eye insision looks good, its pucked and swollen but not oozing or red.

| llcornell- How wonderful are you??!! I've just read through all these posts and I'm so glad that baby is with you. Sounds like you are going to need lots of patience with her... she must be so confused and scared after all she's been through. Please continue keeping us posted. If I didn't live clear across the country I'd come over and help! |

| If she is that distressed, I would let her out for a while. Maybe she will feel better. I wonder if that E-collar is bugging her. Have you tried not using it? That might settle her..maybe she is trying to get it off? Just a thought! They might have soft collars at Petsmart..you can ask them! If you take fabric that is longer...and then gather it to fit her neck, it will be a bit flimsy..but it sticks out .. hard to describe, but with the gathers it is a bit firmer. There is a picture of one here: http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product1.asp?pf_id=11140604&affiliateCode=PF012803 &cm_ven=Performics&cm_cat=Yahoo%20Search%20Submit% 20(SMX-NSO)&cm_ite=DDI%20Link&cm_cat=k115513 After she gets settled, she will probably mostly eat and sleep. That is a typical senior day. They are not normally frantic...I am thinking it could be the collar...or she has pain? I don't know. Hard to say. |

We tell all of our fosters to isolate new ones at first just in case. Yes, if she has kennel cough, yours could get it. Have they had Bordatella? Kennel cough is treatable...just keep an eye on them! She sounds a mess...poor baby. Gosh...they did not give eye meds for her? She definitely needs to see a vet tomorrow in my opinion. She probably needs a dental, but I am sure they will want to get her stable first. Her eye might still have issues and she probably needs medicine. | |

| I HAVE DIAPERS everything now is a little easier. She definatly needs to see a vet she pees constantly. Im going to try to get her in tomorrow. She has been able to run around a little more and seems better. I took her for a little walk and now she is running around the back yard now. She really has a lot of spunk for 15.
