For now, I would limit where she goes in the house. Keep her confined to a smaller area for now until she gets used to that. Since she cannot see out of one eye, and probably has limited or no vision in the other, she needs time to figure out her surroundings. That will also keep her from piddling everywhere until you can find out why she is doing that and see if it can be addressed. She might just have a urinary tract infection. Not sure about the blood...that is a concern, but nothing you can do until she sees a vet. They do make darling little panties for the girls....for now I would go to the store and buy disposable baby diapers and cut a place for her tail. Measure her first so you can get an idea what size to buy..I would think newborn?
You definitely want to get her to a vet as soon as possible...I do not know your group's policies on that except that I do think your president wants a telephone call beyond the real basic exam. I am sure your state director can advise you.
As for her eye....I had one that I finally had to put two E-collars on to prevent him from hurting himself. One was a hard one, one was soft. The soft ones tend to be a bit longer (stick away from the face). Unfortunately, the hard ones....when small enough to fit the neck, often are not long enough and they can rub their eyes. Maybe for now you can add something to it? Take a piece of soft fabric and make your own? Something that would fit under the one you have..it would also make it softer for her against her face.
What kind of surgery did they do? Who did it? Do you know? How does that incision look?
I am hopeful you can get her to a vet asap. I always get mine in the day I get them...but, if on a weekend, then on Monday. Hopefully your vet takes them in right away like that...and hopefully your group approves which I am sure they do.
Thank you again....she is so lucky that you got her! Once she settles, she will be better and she will be so grateful to you! Just give her a few days to get used to her new surroundings. I so love these seniors..they have lots of love to give.
They spent their entire lives giving their unconditional love to someone only to be discarded when they needed that love back. You are a wonderful person to give her that! |
Thank you!!! Im a wreck, shes a wreck, all the other dogs in the house are a wreck. I keep telling myself it will get easier Im helping her but it dosent feel like it. She is confined in a bathroom. But she wants out so bad. She is so unhappy. Nothing Im doing is helping her. Im sure she cant see out of the other. She bashes into everything franticly. She has the hard collar on and I definatly need to make the soft like you said but I dont understand what you mean it just going to be loose and drapey? I had to put cardboard over the baby gates because she was smashing her face in it. She was a stray found on the streets in L.A. Im sure she was used for breeding and I dont think she has ever been in a house. She is so scared and disoriented. I feel bad that she has to stay in the bathroom away from everyone but when I let her out she is crazy and confused. Its seems kinda neglectful to isolate her. I walked her around the block and fed (she's a little piggy) her and she finally fell asleep again. When awake she is determined to get out of the bathroom and she just rages around crashing repeatedly into everything. She is debarked so she makes the most horrible sound (she sounds like a cat in heat) Im going to go and get the rescue remedy and diapers. Ill try the yogurt. Anything else?
