| Hey Girls, What do you think of this, I was looking at the reviews of the Chris Christensen brushes and thought I would look them up and see if I could get them here in the UK. Well wait for the price £25 pounds plus postage. That works out at $42.50 without postage. I wonder if it would be easier to get them from the US and pay shipping to the UK I will need to check it out. Can someone tell me the exact brush I will need as I dont wan to get the wrong thing. Thanks Julie.

| We started using the Buddy Wash, Buddy Rinse and Buddy Conditioner a couple weeks ago. Sissy's has two types of hair; silk and thin on her head and thick and cottony (I think) on her body. The Buddy products leave her body hair very soft and shiny and her head hair even softer and silkier. I love the lavendar/mint smell and the natural ingredient list. The Buddy Condtioner is a spray for an in-between bath freshener. Also fabulous! I use a Lil Pals comb for Sissy. She is in a puppy cut and she gets combed once daily and this keeps her looking very nice - no mats at all. The Buddy products are approx. $10 each and I expect them to last at least a year. Got all the Buddy products from Amazon.com, comb from Pet Supplies Plus.

When I got it though this was the cheapest place I could find, but you may be able to find a better deal....go down just a little bit and you will see them. http://northcoastmarines.com/shampoos_conditioners.htm ----- Rocelle-I'm glad I read your review and tried them. I had been wanting to try them but didn't know how they would work on a yorkie or even one with hair like a yorkie all I could ever find was a bull terrier or something like that. I definately agree its all about trial and error, especially since they can all have such different coats. Something may work great for one person and not for the next, but it is always nice to know it worked for someone before you go out and spend a lot of money on something. Thanks...

| Great thread ... Villette, you're a genius!! When we brought Toto home, among the "stuff" that Ava sent was Coat Handlers Clarifying Shampoo & Coat Handlers Conditioner [Leave In/Rinse Out]. We loved it, but you know how that goes .... read all the raves about every shampoo used by our members ... had to try it!! I have read this entire thread so I won't repeat what's already been said. I think there are only a couple mentioned here that we haven't tried! I always, always go back to our trusty Coat Handlers! It's great and Toto's coat is always shiny and the clarifying shampoo makes her gold look like a deep, healthy gold. Her hair is very cottony & when we had the "show coat" for so long, the CH made it easier to maintain and the black was always so shiny. Since we had about 10-11" of her hair cut [we left her face hair & topknot ... just shortened it a tad] for the first time in her life, I can actually use a comb on her body hair!! She is so much easier to groom and the drying time is unbelievable. Also, we have never, ever had a problem with her skin and she probably hasn't scratched a dozen times in her entire life! So ..... I would have to say that the CH is what we will always use!! The only other thing I use is Bio Groom Silk Creme Rinse and only rarely use that .... just want a little different texture/smell sometimes. It works well and makes her hair very soft and clean smelling! When I realized that Toto's closet was full & began "re-organization", I realized that an entire shelf was full of all these "products"! I cleaned it all out, boxed up all that shampoo, conditioner, etc. and took it over to my friend [UYR] and gave it to her. She always has extra Yorkies and as we all know, there are lots & lots of different coats! What doesn't work well on one will work well on another! Are there any of our members who sell Coat Handlers?? I have always just ordered it online, but if we have someone who sells it, I would prefer to buy it from them!

| STOP, STOP, STOP! There are too many products, too many to try, it's all too confusing!! So many things sound so good, how is a person supposed to know? I've already bought a few of the ones mentioned here. Yes, they all make Tinka really soft and her hair is easy to brush, but I haven't tried anything yet that knocks my socks off. One good shake and her hair is all over the place like I never did anything to it. (kind of like mine, now that I think of it) She is still a pup, so does that make a difference? When do they lose their puppy coat? (I'm sure there's a correct way of saying that) So confusing........ my head is spinning around and around and around. Stop the merry go round! omega (i think) |

I don't know if you can tell a difference between adult & puppy hair in dogs with a cottony coat though. I would think the texture would be about the same.... I could be wrong though. All the Yorkies I've had contact with were silky! The folks that have cottony pups would be able to tell you if there's a difference or not. | |

| Omega- I haven't used CC silk spirit so I don't know if there is a difference or not. Is it like a serum you put on when the hair is dry? If so I honestly wouldn't get something new until you finish what you have. I have some serum stuff that I used on my hair and put it on Reagan every now and then and while the Pet Silk serum is better, its not much better. I think all serums are going to be about the same one may be better than another but probably not enough for me to justify buying a new one in the middle of an old. If its a shampoo or conditioner product then I've just wasted you time sorry and I don't really know anything about it. Unless its drying you pup out though I might just stick with it and when its gone try something new if you want. As far as the puppy coat, I don't really know either. I know that there was a big change as far as Reagan goes. When she was in her puppy coat she got matts so quick and so much. Now she get a few small knots right under her front legs every now and then but nothing too bad and plus I don't always brush her everyday either. I pretty sure that some of it may fall out and if you don't keep that hair brushed out it will cause matts. So it is important to keep them brushed especially when they are changing from puppy to adult coat. About the shaking and the hair being all over the place well that's just going to happen. Every single time I get Reagan's hair up and pretty she shakes and I swear if it were long enough the hair on her tail would end up on top of her head. With what I am using now unless Reagan really gets messy, which she tends to do, I can brush her and her go back to looking pretty good and for about a week. It may even work longer than a week but by a week she's usually gotten herself pretty stinky. It does get overwhelming seeing all the different kinds of products. What I did is I found one I was interested in then read through here to see if anyone else had tried it to see what they had thought. This way you don't hear about all the great products and not know which to choose. You choose one then try to find out if its good or not. Although, I know, this is a little of a double edge because how do you know about some until you hear other talking about them. The ones I've bought just kinda stuck with me. I've always heard about CC but haven't yet really felt the want to try them so I haven't yet. I saw Shea Pet on the web and was just interested in them and remained so until I had heard about someone else liking them. Don't let it bother you'll find something you like it may take a little while or it may be what is in the bottle you already have at home. You never know, if/when that coat changes you may be in love with what you already have. Good luck in whatever choose to do and sorry I wrote a novel.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Courtney ...I do agree with what you said - what works on puppy hair may not work on adult hair and vise versa.... I'm still very happy with the products I use and the only one I still want to try is Vellus. One day - I'll splurge...but for now the CC and Plush Puppy are doing the trick for Chanel and Cheri. |
