| CAUTION111 Mickeys incision pictures I wanted to post these and ask if any one has had this same surgery thing done with their dogs if it looked any thing like this? To me it looks like they did a bad job and cutting and stitching it together. What do you think? Hes pretty dirty from it all, but they said not to clean it until tomorrow and not to bath for 2 days The last picture is Mickey laying in daddys lap. | Miko's incision did not look like that, but maybe different vets do their sutures differently? Maybe it's because the pictures are a bit blurry, but it looks like they didn't suture it very tighly. It doesn't look closed to me. Miko has had that surgery twice in 2 yrs, and his stitches didn't look like that. They were much tighter. Is he bleeding out of it or anything? I didn't bathe Miko at all until he had his stitches removed. But starting the day after surgery, my husband and I cleaned the area around the incision at least 2x per day everyday until he got his stitches removed. And we just used a wet washcloth to kind of wipe the rest of his body clean. Poor Mickey must be in so much pain. After Miko's 2nd surgery, the one he had recently, Miko wouldn't even walk on his own very much at first. And one time, he had an accident and peed on his bed while he was sleeping, and that had never happened before. The first few days are the toughest, but I know Mickey will be okay. How's he feeling? Has he eaten anything yet? Still praying for him!!

| Poor sweet baby. It was kind of blurry, but the stitches DO look kind of far apart. I have not seen what this particular type of surgery looks like, but, in general, they do not look like tight stitches. |

| Gosh, I hope the stitches are okay. I really don't know, as Miko's have never looked like that. They were all tight. Well, let me go back...His most recent surgery, they put the stitches on a little bit looser, and he snagged or knocked them somehow and had to be restitched a few days after his surgery. This time, they put the stitches on right, and we had no more problems as far as the stitches go. But even as loose as they were, they didn't look like little Mickey's. I really hope he eats something! At least you're keeping him hydrated. You might try some noodles with a little low sodium chicken broth. We gave this to Miko a couple of times during his recovery when he wouldn't eat on one of the vet's recommendations, and he really liked it. Still praying for little Mickey.

| Poor little Mickey. It makes me hurt just looking at those pics. I can't imagine how much he hurts. I'm certainly no expert, but those stitches look like they are going to leave a terrible scar. But, then, I said the same thing about Roxy's and her scar doesn't show at all. I hope he heals up without any complications so he can be up and back to his old self soon. Hugs and warm puppy kisses from our house to Mickey.

| Poor baby, the stitches do look . . . I don't know. . . I'm not an expert though. I sure hope he eats soon -- his blood sugar has to be low. I'm kinda surprised they let you take him home since he hasn't eaten yet. . . I'm praying for him; I know he's more comfortable at home. I just wonder if he should be on an IV until he starts eating again. Good luck, Honey, I know all this has been very hard. We're pulling for Mickey -- we so want him to start feeling better.

| Poor baby, I don't know about those stitches either, maybe they left them loose for a reason. I'm rather surprised the vet is allowing him to be washed in 2 days, my vet wouldn't allow bathing for 8 days and that was with internal stitches. I know you are worried about the little guy, I would be too, he's been through alot. Hopefully when he wakes up you will be able to get him to eat something. Sending you best wishes and lots of prayers. |

| Poor baby! Do you have another vet that can just give you a second opinion (peace of mind more than anything). When our cat had surgery, I felt the same way that you are...didn't look like they did a good job. Sure enough, the other vet clinic said that they agreed with us. We also had them take a look at what he was prescribed for infection and pain. It was also wrong...so it never hurts to ask. I hope he gets well very very soon~ Tammy |
