Default I need help- immediately

Chewie is VERY sick. Now, when I say sick, i don't mean her usual. i mean, she's thrown up a ton of stomach acid (just a few minutes ago) and then had smelly, liquid runs which I've never seen, either. She's on prilosec, and she was given her bully stick that I haven't given her for a long time. Only thing that's new in her life. She does eat her bones. She doesn't just chew, she chews AND eats. She threw up 10 minutes aft er her injection of Cirenia (sp) and was sent home with by mouth pills, but she won't eat a damn thing, so those meds won't go in her mouth or stay down. I asked when her injection would take effect, and was told 30-45 minutes.

I need any types of suggestions. Does prilosec do this? This morning she had a bm full of mucous, and I was told with her last bout of gastroenteritis that was a definite sign of inflammation. Husband thinks it's the prilosec. I don't know what the hell i'm doing to do, as she's never thrown up this much. she needs to drink something. anything.

I'm sorry I don't have suggestions, I just hope she's ok!

She also, in her last diarrhea a few minuets ago had bright red spots of blood. Now, I know the difference between dark and red blood, and know it's caused by bleeding on rectum or colon. I Know that an intestinal infection can cause it. I don't know what else to do for her until the morning. I'm keeping an eye on her for dehydration, and she's now willingly drinking things. there have been improvements

Poor Chewie! I would hold the bully sticks for a pup with gastro problems. Bully sticks can be irritants.

I've told you about my Teddy having a sensitive system. He is fine if we stick to his very limited diet. The smallest deviation results in diarrhea.

Yes. . I pulled it from her after we spoke last. But, I was letting her look on my vanity table and she found it and asked nicely for it. It was a moment of weakness I shouldn't have done. We not only threw that one out, but any of her raggedy or more than two day old lamb bones. My poor puppy LOVES those tiny pieces- especially when I hold them. We had to take her to her first vet today, nothing was available. I will say that the doctor doesn't screw around, and is a blunt person. He asked to be given a chance to get to the bottom of her issues, and then told me to eliminate everything but I/D and try adding them back in. I only give her nilla wafers- ground peanuts i grind myself for " peanut butter" (for her meds) Boiled food with hte additives the vet book has for the recipe, Fromms and I/D. Then the bully stick. We know for a fact the ears ae okay, and prob'ly because they usually only last for a day and a half. So, it won't take long to figure it out, if it's not salmonella from the stick.

I have Crohn's like I've stated. Bright red blood has never happened-internal, yes, bright red, no. Does Teddy ever get that, or has he ever had it? It wasn't a lot, but even two spots are enough for me to get upset for her.

Ava our shiz tzu had diarrhea couple weeks ago. Was really bad with a lot of mucus and bright red blood. I added puppy formula dry food in the bowl for max and Ava never eats dry so thought it was safe...no she ate it! Vet said to give the immonium ad and call back if she starts to vomit. Ava was fine the next day but she's 15 lbs so a lot more fat to live off than a Yorkie.
Now Max ate cat food and has it! I hate it when they are sick!

Teddy has never had blood in his stool. Max had a couple drops once when I tried switching him to a really high protein kibble that did not agree with him.

Bone chews -- if she is swallowing part of the lamb's ear, that could be an irritant. Definitely stay away from pig's ear (the worst for dogs with gastro issues), and I would skip the bully sticks. They all have coatings on them that can be bad for dogs with gastro problems.

I would also skip the peanut butter/crushed peanuts. Both peanut butter and carrots (mashed) give my guys tummy problems, even the smallest amounts.

My post didn't go through. I'm going to try goats cheese for the meds. she does well with low fat cheese, and goats cheese is about as mild as they get. She's doing well, Kirsten. This is in a major part to you, because if I hadn't listened to you in July, we'd be digging through several foods. This was her this evening after I insisted on her antibiotic today while her regular vet was off for the weekend. She refused all foods today, save for a few ounces throughout the day- meaning only that for the whole day-so in desperation, and a large part because she was seriously whining while daughter was eating eggs, I gave her a tablespoon of egg whites. She ate it. So, thank you, for listening and all of your advice. Posting pic.

Chewie is adorable

If she continues to have gastro issues though, stick to her Rx food and nothing else. I know it is really hard resisting giving something more fun, but it's better than seeing them sick. I slip up about once a year and give Teddy something (the tiniest piece of something) and he ends up with diarrhea.

I thought Teddy could finally handle scrambled egg. Max loves egg, so it is really hard not treating Teddy too. Nope. The tiniest piece of egg sets him off. Now I substitute 3 tiny shreds of Parmesan cheese, which he does okay with. He is a 9 pound boy, and it doesn't take much to make him happy.

I understand the urge to give more, but really it is easy to make them happy with tiny, tiny treats. Max loves pasta and I used to give him one whole spaghetti noodle. I have to watch his weight, so I started giving him a small piece of the noodle. He is just as happy.

Thankfully, she CAN handle eggs. She got this when her tummy started really acting up- so I was sure to introduce them very slowly. I don't give her the whole egg; She gets around a tablespoon. Egg whites only. Not the fake stuff, either, an actual egg. No oil or anything added.. and very, very, rarely does she get to taste the yolk. I don't know what would happen if I gave her any more than a quick taste of yolk- probably bad things. I just make them for her like I make them for myself. However, I have no qualms about what the doc told me to do, so I think for her own good, I have to do what he suggested; which was even put her I/d in the freezer, or make it really cold in tiny pieces and give it to her for treats. I know I have to give her the foods back so they can see whats going on, but It's probably just better to stick to the sensitive tummy rx food. At least after we do this. Easily broken down proteins or not, I can't give her that and not give her other things, too. I think I'll try that parmesan trick. That's interesting and she loves the Parmesan we buy fresh. I've given her a little string piece here and there myself.

Elsy is on the rx low fat gastrointestinal diet. She gets really sick if she gets anything else. For treats she gets a tiny amt of the same canned rx food. I've read that you can bake it but I've never done that. She is happy with that as a treat.
