| We are still at the internists. They say he is actually doing quite well, so I'm feeling better. She also said some of his tests are back. It is not his kidneys and there are no cancer cells in the fluid. That means he is losing the protein through his intestines. So they are now ultra sounding his abdomen. He has an endoscopy scheduled for Monday unless the ultra sound shows it is the lower intestines. At this point, it is either IBS, lymphangiectasia or cancer. She thinks it is not likely it is cancer. She said IBS would be the preferred of the two as lymphangiectasia is harder to get under control. She said she would put him on steroids right now (which would give immediate improvement) except the weekend is working against us and the steroids would alter the results of the endoscopy on Monday and impair the diagnosis. Their office is connected with the emergency vets next door, so there is that if needed, but she doesn't think he's bad enough to admit. She is going to give me her cell phone number, though, and a list of things to watch for just in case. |

| I am glad you took him in.....at least now you will feel better and the fact that you can call her is good. So happy to hear that he is actually doing better. You mentioned going to a vet nutritionist...if you end up wanting one, you can do a tele consult. I am happy to share the contact information for mine if you want to consult with her. She would require records from your vet and information from you and she works with you to figure out what is best for your pup keeping in mind not only what is healthy, but what they will like. The diet she made up for Cookie is easy to make and Cookie is thrivng on it. I credit her with helping my girl to be alive and healthy today. She also has helped me with a couple others...but they are on prescription foods. Cookie is the only one I cook for.

| Prayers still going out. By any chance are you going to VRCC? When we were stationed in Virginia we were down by Petersburg and I had to drive almost to Charlottesville to Veterinary Referral & Critical Care (VRCC) with my late Annie when I first adopted her she was having Liver problems and my Audrey who had Heart Problems. They were so great there.

| We are home now. Ultra sound showed thickening and inflammation on the intestines, so we are having the endoscopy on Monday morning. Probable diagnosis IBD or lymphangiectasia. Cookie is very lucky to be doing so well because they keep stressing that lymphangiectasia is much harder to respond to treatment and they are hoping it is IBD instead. He will be started on prednisone after the procedure regardless of the diagnosis and it will also be a couple days before we have the biopsy results back. Apparently, the medication treatments for both are the same, but the diets are different. Thank you everyone for your prayers. I am so grateful to have Yorkie Talk and all the support and knowledge on this board. |

The big factor with them is getting them to eat at all...often they are so sick at the time of diagnosis and don't want anything to do with food. I will keep you and your little one in my thoughts and prayers. He is lucky to have a family that is giving him the very best of care!
