We are still at the internists. They say he is actually doing quite well, so I'm feeling better. She also said some of his tests are back. It is not his kidneys and there are no cancer cells in the fluid. That means he is losing the protein through his intestines. So they are now ultra sounding his abdomen. He has an endoscopy scheduled for Monday unless the ultra sound shows it is the lower intestines. At this point, it is either IBS, lymphangiectasia or cancer. She thinks it is not likely it is cancer. She said IBS would be the preferred of the two as lymphangiectasia is harder to get under control. She said she would put him on steroids right now (which would give immediate improvement) except the weekend is working against us and the steroids would alter the results of the endoscopy on Monday and impair the diagnosis. Their office is connected with the emergency vets next door, so there is that if needed, but she doesn't think he's bad enough to admit. She is going to give me her cell phone number, though, and a list of things to watch for just in case.
