| My girl had some sort of reaction to her shots last year. It was her first set of shots since she turned 1 year old. She acted like she was in pain too. I don't remember exactly what she did, but I know I called the vet because she seemed to be in pain, and she didn't even act that way about her spay incision! They had me give her 1/2 of a baby aspirin. She was about 8 pounds at the time. The baby aspirin did help. I think she had pain at the injection site. If you did it yourself, and you are inexperienced then yours is even more likely to have pain. Sometimes getting needles just hurts. My arm was sore from my flu shot! She is also probably mad at you! My dad was a pediatrician and he NEVER gave the shots so the little ones wouldn't be mad at him. His nurses did it! That's another reason I won't even hold her while they stick her, I make them get an ass't to do it. |

| This is just beyond my comprehension and I don't even know what to say to you. Your puppy needs immediate help and if you cannot give it to her she needs to be surrendered to someone that is capable of helping her. There just is no excuse for what has happened in this situation. How about calling her breeder to ask if they will take her back. If they care in the least they should be willing to save one of their puppy's lives.

| ok first thank you to the supporters, I was reassured by the place that many people do this. I didnt intentionally do this and as I said in the beginning, I already felt horrible. But the people that were being kind of hateful. Please reread my message. I DID TAKE HER TO THE VET. I had plans to do the shot and she already had the appt scheduled after. But when this happened. I took her right away. They didnt seem concerned. She was letting out a yip when she moved. He told me she would be very sore and that they dont do lepto because of that. After I gave her honey she quit shaking. She has been laying around alot and normally she is a ball of energy. I have cryed all day over this and the last thing I need is to feel worse. I love my baby with every ounce of love I have and would NEVER make her suffer. But if the vet says she is ok I cant make him do more. To the posters that were being helpful and supportive thank you so much. I negotiated even posting this because I already feel horrible but I wanted to incase someone else has had similar problems. To the poster whos son is a vet tech. If I hit a nerve, will she be ok or did I do damage to it? She is up chewing on things right now which is so her Please no more negative responses. I cant handle that, I would have to leave YT.

| You mentioned they don't do lepto because it makes them sore? Maggie had DHLPP and boradtella. Apparently it is distemper, hepatitis, lepto, parvo and parainfluenza. I guess Maggie got the lepto shot and maybe THAT is why my girl was sore. If yours got it too then maybe that is the problem. Keep an eye on her and ask the vet if she can have baby aspirin. It really helped Maggie. i think we snuck into one of her favorite foods. |

| How is she doing? Benadryl and steroids can be given for reactions and meds can be given for pain (NOT ones that you can get over the counter though). If she starts swelling at all or has trouble breathing, it's an emergency. If she is still in pain, the vet may be willing to give you something for it. Shaking can be from hypoglycemia, but it can also be from pain. Did you inject into the subcutaneous space between the shoulders? What angle was the needle at? If the injection was given in the right spot, there shouldn't be any long-term damage. It's a very forgiving spot for needles (unless you went sraight down, too close to the head/neck, etc.).

| My puppy has the second injection a few days ago, and it was done by a very qualified vet with over 20 - 30 years of experience in veterinary field. Different puppy reacts differently. My puppy has a pretty rough night that day after the jab, she was flatted out and when I touched her, she just cried out with pain. Thanks gawd everything was back to normal the very next morning. You might have made a mistake, but you took her to the vet straight away, if your vet wasn't concern too much, then may be just give them a call before they closed, so you can get some peace of mind. It's just one of those things. Us owners usually react more because we all love our dogs very much. Nothing can make you feel worse than you already are by the sounds of it. Just call the vet for advise and tell them about your concern. After all, you vet would have seen more of these cases than anyone of us here. Hope your puppy will be feeling better very soon. edit: qualified vets have hit the nerve when doing the injection before, it caused a lot of pain, but usually will be okay. I have vet did that to my dog in the past because my dog didn't cooperate probably and he really wiggled badly. But he lived to a good age 17. so it didn't do much of a damage. In the future, I hope that you will not try to give vaccines at home. There is always a chance of a reaction and if you are not financially prepared for basic vetting what will happen if there is a serious reaction to a vaccine? There have been members of YT that have lost their dogs to vaccine reactions. My suggestion to you would be to research low cost vaccine clinics in your area for the future. If there is a reaction they will be able to address it properly without delay. Just because a Tractor Supply employee says it's safe purchase vaccines from a place that sells tractors does not make it true. They do not have DVM on their name tag and if they did I would question why they are working at the Tractor Supply to begin with ![]() Here is just one of the very sad stories of a YT member who's dog passed away after her vaccines. ![]() http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/mem...y75s-pain.html
