Edited to add: There are also breeders who responded to this thread, and gave her information just as you suggested. From the advice given by experienced breeders it sounds bad and the odds are against the momma dog. Yes, it can end beautifully, but really would you gamble just because you want to keep a dog?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Maybe I'm reading things differently than the last 2 posters, but when someone comes on saying they are overwhelmed and people offer resources I don't consider that mean. She was offered some very good advice by people who are extremely experienced in both breeding and rescues. I fully understand not wanting to abort the pups- I wouldn't want to do that either. But alerting the OP to the high likelihood of this particular pup requiring a C/S is neither rude, mean or inappropriate. It is giving information that could very well save the life of both the mother and the pups. This isn't the time for hurt feelings when there are 4 lives at stake.

| I don't see anywhere that the OP was 'jumped' on. Maybe you could point it out. Actually, I saw many people thanking the OP for rescuing this little one from going to the pound. That being said, this is a very high risk pregnancy that would be a challenge for experienced breeders, let alone a novice like the OP. Even if this baby can somehow deliver the pups, there is still much to be done in caring for them. It is a big commitment of time, money and dedication for at least 3 months.....which the OP hasn't indicated she has to give. Also, I think her vet is not recognizing the inherent risks with such a pregnancy, and that worries me, too. I have never before recommended rescue to anyone, but I think in this case it is the best advice to give the OP. I think anyone offering advice would be negligent in not suggesting rescue, given all the specifics of this case. IMO, it's the only responsible advice to give. Remember, this is not her dog, but one that she has just taken in. It is a huge responsibility to just step in to. If she were the owner of this dog and had a skilled small breed vet working with her, I might offer different advice but you have to look at the total picture here. Are some of you advising a non-breeder to take on the risks and responsibility of seeing a 3 pound Yorkie through a pregnancy and caring for these very tiny pups with little preparation? I certainly hope not.

| There has been no harsh anything occurring in this thread but, offerings of help & assistance...all without even the courtesy of reply by the OP. In fact, the generous assistance offered to OP has been BOTH from Breeders & Rescue ......so, she had a choice...she chose neither.

| All I can say is: same stuff, different thread Give someone good advice and someone comes along and says people are mean. I thought the PP had retired. I will pray for this momma dog...sounds like she is going to need all of our prayers.

Rescue....is NOT taking in pups you cannot afford. I am sorry, but if this makes me mean, I will proudly wear the mean tag yet again. I am speaking the truth ... sometimes people don't like the truth. If this pup needs a c-section is the vet guaranteeing free vet care? and also for the pups if they are in need? I surely hope so! Clearly the OP cannot afford the care if she is asking for used blankets.

| For those pointing that finger around here...try doing a little research on this OP first. If you did, you'd see that she has a history of soliciting YT members for assistance and not just for advise & moral support either.

There are very many kind hearted people out there who want to help, but if your not really bettering the situation, then why take on this responsibility?? You have to ask yourself who are you really helping?? yourself?? or the momma and puppies?? If the OP wants to try to raise these babies then she needs whelping supplies and all of the other things to raise puppies but she doesnt have the money to..a blanket shouldnt be her concern here cuz any old clean blankets would do. Her concern shouldnt be puppy supplies at all...it should be about whelping supplies, healthy meals for mooma and things necessary to sustain life for the pups!!! | |

| Hello Again everyone, Let me begin by thanking the ones that really offered their help rather than attack me, My decision have been made and momma dog is doing perfectly fine, I just wanted it to make it clear to everyone that by no means I am trying to take advatage of anyone here on yorkietalk by asking for supplies, oh and for the record CARES4DOGS I didnt just recently had a litter the 1 puppy my dogs had is almost 6 months old. Oh and about me getting my dogs for free yes it did happen I was lucky enough to come across someone that could no longer keep him Me making the decision to breed hims is my business their is no need to judge. Dont worry everyone My little pixie is very well taken care of she going to the vet once a weeks for follow up. The vet will be taking her in the last week of her pregnancy, after that he will have her fixed, he really did offer me help he will care for her during whelping and return her after the puppies are 2 weeks old. I have been greatly disapointed with the yorkietalk members I'm sorry for taking anyones time but this will be my last post here on yorkietalk, If someone really cares to know send me a PM and i will send u my email address |

| I wasnt trying to be rude or ugly. I was concerned about how you were going to pay for the necessities to raise the puppies because you said couldnt afford anything. I think its great (or rather awesome) your vet is taking her in for 3 weeks. When is she due? Do you know how many she is having? |
