| Did he get stuck bc he's too big? It could be dangerous if your female is smaller than your male. I would def take her to the vet, if she's preg she probably needs to be checked out, and if she's not preg then there is obviously something else going on. Good luck. |

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | Congratulations, you will probably be a grandmom in a couple of months. My Yorkie about 2 1/2 years ago got pregnant and she got stuck just once and did produce one puppy.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Hello and welcome, well I can say that yes is a BiG possibility that she is pregnant, the "stuck" together is called a tie, and that is normal during breeding.the dog pregnancy test is very expensive, but you can google and learn as much as you can about whelping so you can help your baby. I hope you can prepare yourself as much as you can. best of luck .. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| Yes, the vet might cost a lot of money, but having puppies is very expensive and there is no good and safe way around that. Diagnostic imaging will be about $40-$100. Raising pups (they will need 1-2 sets of vaccines before leaving you, fecals, maybe dewormings, maybe tails and dew claws done) will be quite a bit. Hopefully she won't need a c-section which could be up to $2000 (if she is pregnant, this money needs to be available to you even if it means Care Credit). Then if anything goes wrong with the mom or pups (eclampsia, liver shunt, etc.), that will likely be quite a bit more costly. Just in care she is pregnant, she should be treated like she is. Like someone else said, a crash course in breeding is vey important at this point. Maybe you can find someone to help you in your area that has experience breeding small dogs.

| That is just WRONG!! How can you have a dog and NOT want to take her to a vet if you suspect that something is wrong with her? I hate to say this but you should NOT have any animal if you are NOT willing to care for it, that means taking it to the vet if you think it is sick or in your case pregnant. I am sorry but when I see or read about something like this it just makes my blood boil. People who are not willing to take care of an animal should not have them. Any animal is a BIG responsibility. | Would you be willing to turn her over to a rescue? YOu are putting your little girls life in danger if you will not get her vet service now and when she is ready to whelp. Do you know that she has to eat differently and that even if she makes it through having the pups she could still die... How big is your little girl? This is very serious as not all Yorkies can whelp and need c sections.

| Please take her to the vet or give her to a rescue. Pregnant moms need to be seen by the vet. Breeding isnt cheap and neither is raising puppies.

| Any time two dogs tie, you have to assume the girl is pregnant. BJH gave you some good advice. A crash course in whelping is certainly in order but, if you're truly inexperienced, you will absolutely need an experienced person with you as whelping time comes. Yorkies are not a breed where you can just let nature take its course. If you don't know an experienced small dog breeder, you should rely on your vet. This will mean expenses for you but it is the responsible thing to do. The lives of your girl and her babies are at stake here and I'm not exaggerating. I'm not sure how you meant it, but you should not be 'poking around' to see if she's pregnant. Only an experienced person should be checking her out. There's no way to tell you all you need to know but here's a few basic things: Have a vet confirm her pregnancy. Discuss your lack of experience with your vet and work out a plan for the pregnancy and delivery. Assume she is pregnant until you have confirmation. Limit her jumping. Start now doing your research. You are not only responsible for a safe delivery but also in making sure the pups thrive. They are very vulnerable for several weeks and you must provide them with a suitable environment and know whether they are doing well or need intervention. This is in no way a complete list of what you need to do/know. My head just spins when I see posts like this. If you girl is already a month along, you only have about another month to prepare as the gestation period is 9 weeks. Forget about any home remedy and saving money. Go see you vet to confirm the pregnancy and get cracking with preparation if she is. If she's not pregnant, I strongly suggest you have her spayed.

| I know going to the vet can be expensive. I have 3 yorkies. I'm sure it wasn't a planned pregnancy, but when you bring a pet into your home you have made a commitment to them for their well being. I usually don't reply to many threads just read. I couldn' t imagine not taking my babies to vet it they needed to go. They rely on me. I hope all turns well for you and your baby.

| Who sold you these puppies? Do you have full breeding rights? If you do you are responsible for taking these dogs to the vets to be checked out and cared for. If you got them with full breeding rights you can never claim that this was un-planned. If you do not have breeding rights on these 2 dogs they should have been fixed at 6 months of age, both of them. Either way you are responsible for this pregnancy and you need to deal with the consequences. You are right, vet cost is not cheap, that is why responsible breeders do not breed to sell puppies for pennies. Before breeding the moms and dads many tests are needed to be performed to make sure any underlying problem that can be traced is not passed on. Also, pedigrees and blood lines are taken into consideration, of course if one does not know what to consider that is not gonna get done. Usually the breeder who places puppies should be the judge if someone is financially able to get on the task of breeding, of course, education about the breed and breeding and whelping is just as important. You should have considered all the pros and cons of having these 2 dogs together and allowing them to breed.
