Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I don't get it!!! OKay So Diggy starts breaking out in hives saturday night. I gave him benadryl and he reacted well to it and hives went away. 4 hours later more hives in different places so more benadryl then a trip tp the vet Sunday. Vet suspected allergies gave him a shot of steroids and Diggy has been fine. Then Sunday afternoon Bella gets the same exact hives!!!! So then I rush her to the emergency vet because she isnt reacting as well to the benadry it wears off in like 2 hours! It does take the hives down tho. So up all night itching and we are goign to my regualr vet today at 2pm. Okay i have ran down the list of usuals this could be No change in food/treats laundry soap NO lawn chemicals EVER no flea treaments or meds of any kind they didnt get into anything that i know of and i am pretty particular of these little ones. I have a huge oak tree in back yard throwing off catkins but that happens every year and why would they both react so violently within the same 24 span to seasonal allergies they have never had before??? Can someone PLEASE try and figure this out. Its not adding up to me!! I would love to say oh its got to be the oak....but i dont think so. A bug bite??? Maybe but the bug would have had to have bitten both of them?? Im at a lose here and going on 4 hours sleep in the last 2 days

| Sorry to hear that Paula. Is it a possibility that the pups may have rolled around in the grass and got bitten by ants? They seem to be all over this time of year having awaken to spring. If they were fire ants the pups would have been in pain but regular ants can bite too. Hope they are feeling better today. Take a nap and catch up on some sleep. |

Different ants different bites. Fire ants are bad, big time, however your pups would be in pain also. Depends what kind of ants are around. Check the yard out for mounds of dirt and see what kind of ants are coming and going. Just a thought. Hives come from something so there has to be something in the yard, I would think. How about spinder bites? They are another bug who can cause a raised bump like hive.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | there are a lot of little sand mounds in the cracks of the driveway so i KNOW ants are there...just baffles me as to how they both would be bitten in the same 24 hr time span...I hope it was just an ant bite and they work thru it all. Oh and as for the ants they are small and a brownish color....i know nothing about ants but I am from the south and my mom always called them "pissants" down there lol

| is it patchy hives welts?? or is it like a bump, pustule or bite? Could it be a sun burn? Since it got better with a histamine blocker then there must be some sort of systemic histamine response especially since their eyes are swelling too. It has to be some sort of exposure since they both got it. I am soooooooooo curious to know what it could be! hmmmmm Poor babies. Bella sends them both some love and extra kisses for you Paula |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | yes they look exactly like the pics on the link i posted. Like there would be 3-5 on their belly at a time. the hives did not look to be like the bite itself when they went down, you could not even see where they were and no bite marks! Id love to know what this is too!!!! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...o-itching.html she says no itching in her thread mine DEFINATELY have itching tho.

1yr and he got those kind of red bumbs in the same area. I went right to the Vet and he told me it was a doggy form of "Diaper Rash". He gave me an ointment and it was gone in a couple of days and he never got it again.
