| Does anyone here like Ume? This is one of my favorite things. It's a japanese tiny pickled plum. I prefer the crunchy over the soft. But is nice and sour.

| umeboshi? That's how I know it as. don't know if I spelled it right, but I love those! Very salty and sour! And it looks so pretty on top of a bowl of rice. I had the fried pickles, green tomatoes and okra from Lucilles last night, they were really good! I liked them better than the pickles at the fair.

| Yes, that's it! We just always called it Ume for short. When I went to Japan last year the Ume tree was just starting to bloom. It was beautiful. I plan to get a tattoo of the Ume flowers in the near future. I love the ume in musubi's.

| The batter was less salty, and thinner and crunchier. The dill itself was more crisp and snappy. The okra was soft on the inside, but thankfully not gooey like the raw okra I was afraid of. They sliced them into little rounds. The tomatoes were good, and a bit crunchy too, like unripe? But I wouldn't want a ripe tomato battered and deep fried. The only other time I had green tomatoes they were pickled and not fried. Don't remember where I had those but they were pretty good.

| my parents have always made lime pickles since forever. i like them okay on things like a burger but they are sliced thick so the best way is in ham salad or tuna salad. they started to make dill pickles and those are better but still not great. my fav are kosher spears, sweet gerkins and bread and butter pickles...i LOVE fried pickles of about any kind too. |
