| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, salivate! One of my favorite *all-time* cuisines (always in my top 2, at all times) is East African - either Ethiopian or Eritrean. INCREDIBLE! I could eat it every day. I introduced my sister to it years ago, and then she moved to a small city. She was dying for it soooo badly - that I bought it here, put it in tupperware, and shipped it to her. She said it was the best b-day gift of her life. LOL.

Welcome to World Spice Merchants and I brought this book on Amazon- A Taste of Eritrea by Oliva Warren. Pretty good recipes and a good fix when I can't get into the city for my fix.

I've always wanted to try conch! Didn't get a chance to when I was in the caribbean. We went on a cruise, and when you get to port you are NEVER hungry! Didn't get to try any of the regional foods there ![]() Alton Brown turned you off of crustaceans? Well they are like bugs, exoskeletons and all. My dad used to say, whoever was the first person to eat a crab was either very brave, or very hungry.

![]() I just looked up on wikipedia:"In cuisines around the Mediterranean, Paracentrotus lividus is often eaten raw, with lemon.......In Chile, it is served raw with lemon, onions, and olive oil.....in Maine, sea urchins are known as whores' eggs. It was formerly a delicacy in the Orkney Islands, used instead of butter (see? I told you guys about the butteryness!)......In New Zealand, Evechinus chloroticus, known as kina in Maori, is a delicacy, traditionally eaten raw......In Japan, sea urchin is known as uni (ウニ?), and can retail for as much as $450/kg.; it is served raw as sashimi or in sushi, with soy sauce and wasabi." I knew they ate uni in the Mediterranean, but didn't know a lot of other cultures did as well! I'm telling you guys, it's good! ![]() I don't know if people eat stingray, and whaling is illegal now, but I know japanese eat them.

Lol!!!!!! You're cute-you curry head. But I have to tell you, Indian dishes consist of a blend of MANY species. Mainly- cumin seeds and powder, coriander, turmeric, cardamom, black mustard seeds, red chili powder ("mirch" not cayanne), bay leaves, and garam masala which is another blend of spices but can be bought already blended. Some people will call this blend a "curry." It's AWESOME!!!!!!! Smiles- Viv

Yep! I grind my own I usually do it fresh but occasionally will make a little extra for a quick dish mid week ![]() I was in a very long term relationship with a guy from Manchester, England so my style of Indian cooking is heavily based on that and my Pakistani friends cooking lessons Probably not authentic but I'm willing to learn! I have a few dishes almost perfected curry goat is the current fave!

| One of my favorites is fried or smoked mullet(not the hair, lol). I'm so afraid the way the oil spill is going, any seafood in my neck of the woods is going to be "exotic" because of the lack of availability. |

| I'm afraid the most exotic dishes I had so far were escargots and ostrich. I love Italian food though. But the food I like best is whenever hubby cooks just for me. He makes an awesome salmon and steaks with blue cheese crust are delicious. Gosh, am getting hungry. |
