That's how I feel too. Sometimes it angers me too when people put their dogs at risk. Some accidents do just happen and no one could have done anything to prevent it, but other "accidents" shouldn't have been allowed to happen. Such as, if you are going to have an intact female, watch your female 24/7 when she's in heat...don't leave her in the backyard alone for 10 minutes to go potty and then wonder how she accidentally got pregnant. It makes me sad that the dog was put in that position and mad that now the owner has a pregnant dog and knows nothing about whelping a litter...what if the dog has complications and dies? I guess that is where the welfare of the dog comes into play. When someone posts that there dog is accidentally pregnant, there is no use in telling them they made a mistake..it's already happened. Instead, when someone posts that there dog is in heat and what should they do, I make a point to tell them to watch their female like a hawk and keep her seperated from males for 4 weeks and never leave her outside unattended.

i think ppl are concerned about bad breeding on here.. they are just trying to help and from the threads i have read.. it has helped when a newbie comes asking about breeding his/her 2lber or her.. 8 lber.. ppl have seemed convinced some of them at least to do otherwise..

do u expect ppl to just smile and cheer them on when we all know that person could potentially kill his/her yorkie? i think not

What bothers me is the unnecessary nastiness I've seen. I'm finished buying into the excuse that this is an open forum and everybody is entitled to voice their opinions. This is true, however, putting that same opinion as nicely as you can is an adult choice. I don't have to listen to anyone's opinion if I feel they're just out and out nasty about how they state it.

As far as I'm concerned, that excuse is nonsense. The reality is that some people don't want to post here anymore, so, true or not, it's just not working out well. Learn to be nice about what you have to say, or don't say it at all.
In other words, grow up!

I just got a new puppy and haven't really put up too many pictures, nor shared a lot about her and Max. There are some people here who I do not want to share my joy or my business with. I don't need their negative energy in my life.

On the other hand, these people are in the minority. Most YT members are wonderful, amazing people who I care about. I care about your dogs, your families, when someone is sick, when you share your happiness and your sorrows.

I have also learned 90% of what I know about Yorkies from YT. I could not have raised Max so well without the help and support of YT. I certainly couldn't have found Gracie Leigh without the help and advice of YTers.

I'll be back on, but I do not believe that "freedom to state your opinion" crap.
State your opinion to somebody else. I just don't care all that much about it and I don't want negativity in my life.

Just my opinion.
Great post Judy and I agree .. I Miss you

There are a lot of us that are very passionate about the Yorkie breed and tired of the "bad-breeding" that goes on. It's sad that a lot of yorkies don't even look like yorkies anymore. So when someone says they want to breed their 15lbs yorkie, those that want yorkies bred to the YTCA/AKC standard are going to say something.

Hey all, thanks. It's nice to be viewed that way.....but, remember I'm very human and do have a temper and bad days.......

I suppose there are those that haven't had the training and experts to turn to that some of us have had. But, if you're posting on an open forum such as YT, you're going to get different opinions, some nice and not so nice. And in the words of Yorkie Rose: If you want your ear tickled, don't ask the question.

I guess I will give my two cents here. This forum seems so nice and mild to me compared to the other ones online. I wouldn't want to be caught in the breeder's section as a newbie having bred a 3 pound female though. I really do think that the breeders here try to be nice though. Sometimes it looks like it gets frustrating when they need answers to questions and the person that bred their dog doesn't have them or the person is just not listening. So the breeders here do put up with a lot.

There is one major problem I see here lately. There was a certain person banned a couple months ago. Not every male newbie who comes on this site is that person. I think newbies may be scared away by people saying they are that person. If you think it is that person it should be reported to admin and not put in the thread... Just my opinion

Congratulations on Gracie Leigh! I love her name.

Even though someone may upset me with a post, I try to form as unemotional and tactful a response as I can. If I can't find a way to do that, I don't post. I can predict almost 90% of the time which post will become heated, and I tend to avoid those posts. If I avoided ALL controversial posts, I wouldn't talk about...

accidental pregnancy
definition of "good" breeder
medicine or controversial medical treatment for yorkies
food: raw, kibble, homecooking
breeding in general
chocolates, parti, nonstandard colors, yorkie mixes
size
training methods
clothes/grooming

This doesn't leave a whole lot to talk about does it? People are going to have different opinions, we can't avoid all controversy, but we can be civil or try to be civil. IMHO

Freedom of speech does not include the right to be nasty. Like you said , "that IS the case, to an extent."

Yes, say what you feel needs to be said....but learn to say it in a way that will be heard. (I'm not talking about you when I use the word "you." I don't think your posts are nasty).

If you post something and are told, in as tactful a way as possible, something you don't want to hear, it is productive. You might not like it, but you might think about it later. Most people, on the other hand, respond to nastiness with anger and shut down. Nothing is learned, and nobody is helped.

No but I would expect them to educate me kindly.. If they 'yell' at me about what I think or what I did them I might do it anyway and not come on here anymore (and miss out on the kind educated people).. I'm not talking about me but any person.. Sometimes people ignore the rude things and ignore a good fact in that saying....
