| ![]() Graleyne, Don't deny yourself anything food wise. Even carbs, your brain needs the nutrients and sugars!!! mypyramid Check out the site, GREAT Info and it can be tailored to YOU!!!! I know, I have gained like 75lbs in 10 years, and after having 2 kids...it isn't going away! I am so frustrated, but I just keep going at it! And remember, more calories out than in! Hard to do, but, keep a food diary. No "diet" is going to really help in the long run...only a lifestyle change. Hope this helps you out. If you have any questions feel free to ask/pm. I am taking a few nutrition calsses right now, so I have a whole text here! haha. Good luck, it is definitely a long hard journey. But, you can do it!

| ![]() If you can commit to taking Allii, you should be able to commit to doing something even simpler...and not as messy....well, maybe not SIMPLER, but definitely not as messy! Can you walk or do you have any problems with walking? And could you do some type of resistance exercises? I know exercise if you don't like it and haven't been doing it does not sound like fun or appealing. But it doesn't really take long to make it a habit to where you just get up and do it without even giving it much thought. And honestly, the more you do it, the less painful it is! If you try eating about 6 small meals a day, that are (this is assuming that you don't have kidney disease of course) relatively high in lean protein (like 4 oz. of steamed or grilled fish or chicken), high fiber (good for you anyhow, but helps make you feel more full), low calorie and low saturated fat) and in between your 3 main meals a day, have a small meal consisting of low fat or fat free yogurt, nuts, jello, ...if you're interested, you can pm me and I can send you some menus and even exercises if you want. Just tell me what you can/can't eat and can/can't do physically. I'm happy to help anyone who wants to get into better shape and better health. It's a little time consuming at the very first just having the food on hand (and some of it cooked ahead so it's available) but you do get used to it and pretty soon don't even think about it. It's really hard work to lose weight and you really have to be dedicated unfortunately. And I know you think it doesn't help, but drinking lots of water is really imperative. Like anything else, once you get into the swing of doing it, it just becomes almost second nature. Whatever you decide, good luck to you; it CAN be done!

| ![]() I've gained 30 pounds since taking a job in 2005 where we get drug rep lunches everyday at a doctor's office. I rarely eat dinner, if I do it's something very light. My problem is EXERCISE. I lost 30 pounds before by walking 5 or 6 nights a week, usually 1.5 or 2 miles. I just need to be disciplined and do it. OK, join together ladies, lets do this, I'm gonna walk tonite!!

![]() Why don't you start a sort of a group effort/support type of thing here? You could have a separate forum for it and people could check in daily with their journals and how they did with their nutrition/exercise. There's nothing like motivation, feedback and knowing that other people are doing the same thing, plus, it gives you a little accountability. My first suggestion is (and I KNOW..it's a PIA, but it really DOES work, even when you're used to eating the right things....I find when I stop for quite awhile, it's so much easier to ignore some of the things you're putting into your mouth if you don't have to have it written down ![]() You can find tons of information and keep your own journal which will almost automatically input the calories for each thing you eat (this DOES get simpler the more you use it) and you can see at the end of the day how you've done as far as fats, calories and nutrients go.....it does take some time and planning initially, but within a week or so, it seriously is easy breezy. And it makes you THINK about what you're doing and what's going on! PM me and I'll share this info with you. Sorry, but I can't think of the sites off the top of my head and I have them bookmarked on my other computer, so I need to go get online on it ![]()

Sorry... there is no magic pill out there to make you lose weight. Its not healthy and as soon as you stop taking it you gain the weight back. Don't take pills please! Its all about lifestyle. Its about making changes to the way you live. You don't need to stop eating ANYTHING. You do however probably need to cut back. We (as a society) overeat all the time. A serving of ice cream is 1/2 a cup. But when we get a KIDDIE size at an ice cream stand its like 2 cups! A serving of rice is a 1/2 cup. A serving of meat is 3 - 4 ounces. Ive never seen smaller than 6 ounces on a restaurant menu. You can eat whatever you want to eat, just make sure you eat ONE portion.. or if you do eat more than one, be aware. I have learned to be aware of everything I eat... even if its bad, yeah I can eat, but I have to remember I ate it. So if I decide to eat a candy bar at work during the day and then at night go for a brownie or cookie, I remember I ate the candy bar and I put the other thing away for another day. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() That is EXACTLY what I need to do. Portion control and get off my butt and exercise. I pulled out my Gazelle and dusted it off. Now I just have to GET ON IT.

| ![]() You know, you don't have to instantly start doing an hour on any machine or whatever cardio you want to do. Start off by doing 5 minutes at least, and each day increase it by however long you feel like doing it. Anything is better than nothing and at least you have SOME sense of accomplishment ![]()

| ![]() That's what I was thinking. Its been so long since I've worked out after 5 minutes I thought I was dying! lol So I was thinking of doing 5 minutes at a time, a few times a day until I get built back up to where I can Gazelle my way through an entire Oprah show!

| ![]() i just graduated from purdue with a dietetics/nutrition major and 'm currently in the middle of my rotations/internship. i am..by far, not an expert or a professional, but i can share with you some insight..and "knowledge" i guess i've gained from school. i'm 23 and 110 lb, so i can't say that i know what you're going through, but i've been helping my mother and a couple of her friends (who are diabetic) with diets and exercise. it IS a lifestyle change and you do have to commit, but it's always okay to slip up and eat something you absolutely love (i'm not a huge meat fan, but i am a carb lover! to the extreme. hehe. ) the main struggle is to go back to your diet/exercise plan after you slip up. many people believe that if they mess up one day and eat whatever they want, they totally failed their diet plan. you didn't! just get back on it. one key to eating the things you love is moderation. you don't necessarily need to cut it out, just eat in moderation. my mom has had knee surgery on and off for the past year, so getting up and walking is not an ideal way to exercise. we do a lot of leg rotations, strength (weight) training to help her build up muscle and lose weight, while she's sedentary. with other people who come up to me (apparently everyone thinks i'm an expert since i've spent the last 5 years learning nutrition ![]() one of the ways i exercise (instead of hitting the gym because somedays i just don't feel like it) is to take mocha out for a 30 minute walk after dinner, when the sun is setting so it's not too hot. or even just going out and playing catch with her for 10 minutes. the furbaby loooves it. i'm not really big on the diet pills that are out there on the market. a lot of them seem to be too good to be true, which is exactly true. it's way too good to be true for it to work. there's always some side effect. if anything i would recommend supplementation on certain vitamins if you insist on cutting out a particular food. i don't know if any of that made sense and it's a really long post. i tend to ramble when i get going. ![]()

| ![]() Your being your own worst enemy. First of all 30 lbs sounds like a mountain to lose to anyone. When I lost my weight I would try to lose just 5 lbs. If I succeeded and I did, I'd say ok I'll try another 5. See if you break it down small parts you don't feel so desperate. You know you can lose 5 lbs, anyone can. Don't starve yourself. Just don't eat the things you know are bad for you. You also need to exercise. Start out slow. Walk around your block once. When you can do that with ease, add another block. See if you want to be successful you need to do everything in moderation. If you screw up, so what it's only 5 lbs and you can fix it really easy. Eventually you'll be down to the weight you want, and be able to maintain it. I would reward myself when I lost like 15 lbs by buying my self something new to wear. It could be a shirt, pants, earrings, glasses, whatever to give yourself a that a girl. You can pm me anytime you need a boost.
