| I am so desperate to lose weight that I have decided no more retail therapy until I do! Ugh! I had a hysterectomy last year and I have just blown up since then. I can't stand it. So, I've decided I will not spend any more money until I lose at least 30 pounds - not even on Susanah! Its going to be TOUGH, but I have to do something. I am just miserable. ~Graleyne

| I know just exactly what you mean. I gained 25. I have gotten it off, but it took this trip to Iraq to do it. Very extreme measure, wouldn't recommend it. But I wanted to wish you the best of luck and let you know that you aren't alone in the post-surgery weight gain. Retail therapy for Susanah might be okay...Don't be too harsh!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | you aren't alone !! I went from 114 to 145 in 2 years since I hit my late 40's and it's SO depressing - I wish I could say it's easy to lose but man I'm having trouble too. I find eating a big bowl of steamed veggies before dinner really helps and there's some threads here you could check out that may give you some ideas' I've been dieting since I was at the last yorkie meetup and only lost 6 lbs and I'm rigid in what I eat here's a few threads for ideas http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...highlight=carb http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...highlight=carb http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...highlight=carb |

| Thanks for the threads! Oh, I promise Susanah won't have to "suffer" too long. I mentioned to hubby that I was going to put $10 in a jar for every pound I lost - then he said he would match it! Sooooo for every pound I lose that' $20! $20 x 35 pounds = $700. $700 = Susanah shopping spree!

| hey~~ some tips on losing weight is not eating before you go to bed... start with a couple of hours.. then slowly increase the hours you dont eat before you go to bed to around 5? also if you have a craving to eat.. then eat lots of healthy things such as vegetables or fruit oh and before you eat a meal, drink a lot of water right before so you will feel more full hope those help a bit.. good luck you can do it! |

| Maybe it's one of those products that states one of the side effect is anal leakage....gross, I think I'd rather be plump....

| I am in the same sinking ship. I get a handle on it for a short while and then hormones hit and BANG-------carb frenzy and then comes the guilt and then the, "I am such a failure" eating. Oy, you can track me by the week of the month for goddess sake. I have at least 40 lbs to lose or whatever it takes to get to a comfy size 8. Don't want to lose all the curves--I've earned those puppies! I am pushing a 14 right now. I just bought an eliptical machine and dragging my pilates and yoga DVD's out of the back corner of the storage closet. I am even thinking of doing the uynthinkable. Posting pics at the start and then, bi-weekly updates. I thought maybe completely humiliating myself would work. How about a time limit of some amount of weeks and no matter what I need to post a pic of myself in a bathing suit? I turn 46 in Sept and if I don't get this turned around, I forsee feeling very old before I have to. |

| I have one of those Gazelle things and I actually really like it. Its not even one of the fancy ones - just the $99 one from Wal-Mart. I think I have some Zumba (anyone remember that?) DVDs around here someplace. I know I have Tae Bo - somewhere. I am far to embarrassed to say exactly how much weight I have gained, let's just say I am very easily a 14 (even pushing 16 in some pants, depends on the make). I've gained enough weight that I do not even look like the same person. The pills sounded like a good idea - until I read the anal leakage thing. lol But at the same time I am desperate enough to get this weight off that for a fleeting moment I thought about how I could wedge a pad between my butt cheeks.

| I wish all of you ladies lots of luck. I've been down that road. I still carry a few extra pounds, but lost a bunch that I had gained while on a high dose of prednisone. I had the best luck with the Idiots Diet that I got off the internet. http://fatloss4idiots.com/?hop=pfile&tid=139929 The variety of food is limited, but you never have to be hungry. And you diet for 11 days and then go off for 3 days. Those 3 days you eat what you want, but never over eat. It worked for me. And I would definitely do it again. |

I'm sorry your having such a hard time w/ your weight loss...I know as women our weight can be so important to us, probably more important than money it can really send us into a depression & effect our whole self image....I just wanted to tell you about my sister because she has had a weight problem for years...she was always looking for that magic , quick , & easy way to have the weight just drop off in her sleep w/ no effort on her part, she loved carbs, pasta & lots of donuts...she would buy every new gadget or pill that came out, she even bought Relacore at $130 a bottle, (she lost about 6lbs. & it came back), she did the colon cleansing ( the only thing that got cleansed was her checkbook), joined a gym ( went gung ho at first then quit going)....she finally decided there is no easy way, she has to do this herself, she went & bought an exercise bike & started cutting out the junk food ( no more Little Debbie's, she was evicted from the home) she was limiting her carbs at first but is now eating more normal, just cutting the portions way down... she rides that bike EVERY day for a minimum of 1 hr. while the tv is on...sometimes she will go for a 3-4 mile walk in the evenings...a couple of times she felt so energized she told me she rode that bike for 3 hrs. & burned 1900 calories ....so far she has lost about 38 lbs. in 2 months, she has 20 to go, but she is feeling good & positive about it & she's smiling more.... This is how my sister explained it to me.... Sometimes I felt like I'm in a hole & need to climb out...the "cure" is my commitment & dedication to doing this...it required a decision to be made & sticking it out w/o giving in to instant gratification ( food or her excuses to avoid exercise)...every thing I do is by a conscience choice...I had to change no matter on how I felt.. I know you can do this too...I hope her story inspires & gives you hope ..
