| ![]() There are a LOT of undocumented workers in the restaurant industry. They put with up very low wages and sometimes harassment, etc bc they know they can't complain to anyone out of fear. Fear of getting in trouble or getting deported. They want to keep the job so they keep their mouth shut.

And don't worry Taylor, your mom and dad and grandparents love you, raised you to do right and any one of them would glady surrender themselves to authorities before they would ever allow you to lie to police to try save them just the same as you would do if the tables were turned. Protective love works both ways. ![]()

| ![]() I do not watch the cooking channel, so I was never a fan of Paula Deen. When I saw her on TV talk shows, I perceived her as a sweet and funny Southern woman that liked to cook fattening dishes. ![]() I do not like the idea that Paula felt comfortable freely using the n-word, but I’m more astound that she loved the idea of a plantation theme wedding with black people, functioning as slaves, serving the guest. ![]() |

| ![]() What a mess. The lawyer for the woman suing Paul Deen and her brother for sexual harassment and racial slurs tweeted that he looked forward to "doing" and "undressing" Deen during discovery, and that prosecuting her was a "real hoot." The laywer, Billips, used "obscene, bawdy, and racially-charged language when conversing with his Twitter followers," according to the judgment denying Deen's team's request to have him removed from the case. Sounds like all these people need a large dose of dignity and sensitivity.

| ![]() I think they should just dismiss the case. Whether the accusations are true or not, the court of public opinion has tried and condemned PD already, mostly based on garbage reporting from sources like TMZ, Daily Mail, and NY Post. Her reputation and career are effectively in ruins. Isn't it really a moot point by now?

| ![]() Financial compensation for damages is the intent of filing this kind of lawsuit. Here is the official complaint filed: http://www.atlawblog.com/wp-content/...-Complaint.pdf The last couple of pages detail what Lisa Jackson is seeking. Is is curious that she continued to work in the restaurant for 5 years, and wrote a business proposal for Paula in which she praised the way the whole family business operated. I think Jackson is an opportunist, and Paula and her brother have a lot of soul searching to do.

| ![]() [quote=Lovetodream88;4251431]The n word is used a lot by older southern people. My Grandmothers aunt who raised her would occasionally use it but not in a necessary terrible way just as if some one would say black person she would say the n word it was just how she was raised. She was anything from a terrible person though. She married her husband and took in all of his kids and was there mother and took in my Grandmother and her Brother and did amazing things and touched many lives. I also think if people don't want to be called a certain name they should also not call each other a certain

| ![]() I read on the "We Support Paula Deen" facebook page, that the person that initiated the lawsuit has admitted she lied about what she said about Paula. Now......the sad thing about all this is Paula has been defamed and had her character publically drug through the mud.....and she has faced so much public humilliation and embarrassment, and has lost her little spot on food network, all over a lie.....and what is so sad is the person that caused all this drama, will walk away, without so much as a scratch. All the TV talk show hosts, all the "journalists, all the public figures that are so quick to grab up that ever present race card and throw it down, they will just get quiet, let the dust settle, and go on to their next big story, with NO apology coming from THEM to Paula.......Thank God for all the thousands of people that have come forward, especially people of color, people that KNOW this lady on a personal level, that know she is no racist, have stood up for her, on her behalf, to support a person and friend they feel was maliciously maligned.....all over one lousy, hurtful, stupid, lie about a stupid, insensitive, mean spirited word. How utterly unfortunate.......I wish her dear "friend" Oprah, would have had the courage of HER convictions and stepped up and defended the person she thought Paula was. |

| ![]() It is all quite sad. I think the Food Network should ask each of the chefs under oath if they have ever in life used the N-word, and fire those that have. Paula only admitted to using the word in regard to a person that held a gun to her head in a bank, many years ago. Still there will be more info to come forward, but so far I stand by my feeling that she is not a racists, and has been punished too severely. I do not condone the use of the word ever, including by black comedians and certain people who feel they have a right to use it.

Think of Tiger Woods - he lost almost all of his endorsers back during his cheating scandal. Now in that case, I totally understand and think it was very valid bc the utter extent of his abhorrent behavior, pretense, and lies went so deep/far. But in Paula's case, I think her endorsers are the ones who went too far. It makes me think they were already looking for a way to jump ship for whatever reasons, and just used this convenient scandal to do so.
