Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Poor Mailing with USPS Returned item back to HSN on the 20th of Janurary to Ontario, Calif. at our local post office here in Calif. I find out last night by the tracking that the package was in the process of leaving State of Pennsylvania I was told it was just now being sent back to Ontario, Calif. by truck. Hope it gets back to it's destination before the 30 days as HSN has that as policy for returns Curious what other mailing service others use ? Thanks for those replying. |

| That's insane!!! Why is it being sent to Pennsylvania? I hope you're able to get it in before the 30 days. If not, I'm sure HSN will be reasonable as long as you showed you tried to return it in time. I wouldn't be surprised if HSN gets multiple USPS complaints.

| Usps SUCKS! No wonder they are broke. They are expensive and not fast, the offices are always crowed, and the employees are rude and smug. Last GE my boxed came smashed and my delivery man actually opened my door ( at my shop) and tossed it in. There was glass inside, thank goodness nothing broke! Last week I sent a package to a friend. She said the box looked like it had been to hell and back, and delivered to her neighbor's! I paid $18 for that small box too. I avoid usps when ever I can now, and gladly use FedEx. They are fast, most times cheaper, and the workers are always happy to help. Oh yeah, if you do try to dispute something with usps, make sure you get it in writing from that office's post master general, and not just some "supervisor". Donating YT 30K Club Member | I recently ordered a software upgrade for my Mac and it took 8 days to get here. It showed on the tracking that it was in my home town for 2 days before being delivered. I hope yours gets there in time Patti.

A lady was at the counter. The clerk gives the usual "does you package contain anything liquid, perishable,, potential hazardous materials......" the lady says I don't know. The clerk says "you don't know what's in here? You're sending this aren't you? If you were at the airport you wouldn't be able to bring this". (ugh we are not at the airport....powertrip much?) The lady says "I'm sending this for my daughter" "Ok but if you were at the airport...." blah blah blah...... She ended up taking the package anyway. Oh another time one of the clerks lectured me for not having the return address far enough to the left. Also when I purchased Click and Ship postage online , and the program AUTOMATICALLY filled in the date (it being a Sat and I turned it in Mon) they said, ok this time I'll take it, but it has to have today's date, the latest yesterday's date. WHATEVER. It still got there. Did I mention I had to pay $18 to get a small box to my friend?

| Might is add, my dear uncle is a retired USPS employee for over 30 years. It was not always like this. It used to be a very respectable career.

| Since my famiy and I are on a base overseas (hubby is in the Navy), we have an FPO address and have to use the USPS. Things going priority are not usually a problem; mail arrives any where from a few days to two weeks depending on the size of the package, where it was sent from or is going to and the time of year (mail takes longer in Dec due the increase in volume). Parcel post on the other hand is is AWFUL. It can take a box over 2 months to get here(the norm is 4-6 weeks). But the very worst (that I have experienced) is Fedex/mail combo some companies use. It takes a week for it to go from the company via fedex to the post office where it then gets mailed parcel post. I am still waiting on replacement filters for my vacuum that I ordered and were shipped before Christmas. Last edited by mky; 01-29-2012 at 11:03 PM. |

| I'm glad you mentioned this. For my bday, my brother bought me a dress. (very belated present) Since we were purchasing online, he bought 2 so I could keep the one that fit the best. I returned one, and when I checked in a week later, I was informed they would not be receiving the dress until the 30th because they use a USPS/fedEx combo services. I was very confused and didn't know what they were talking about. All I understood was there was a delay because of this. My big bro is letting me keep the cost of the dress i returned and use the money to buy a second dress. He could be so nice sometimes.

| I'm not surprised. I agree with cap'n. They're overpriced, slow and a bunch of rude idiots. So is UPS though- case in point: we had some plumbing stuff shipped from a supplier directly to a job site. There are 3 boxes. We have had stuff delivered to this job site previously with no problems. Supplier calls me and says "call UPS, they have a problem finding the address-they say it doesn't exist." (mind you, it existed when they delivered boxes there before). I google the address, it pops up, with directions and I call UPS. I verify the address and give them turn by turn directions. They say okay, packages will go out tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and no packages. So I call UPS again. Again, they tell me that address doesn't exist. Again, I give them turn by turn instructions and explain that the address has existed since 1913, as this is a cemetery and synagogue that was built then and that we are building a new caretakers cottage at the back of the property blah blah blah. They promise packages will be delivered next day. Next day comes and my employee calls and says yeah they delivered but it's only the water heater. The sink and other stuff isn't here. So I call UPS for a third time. The conversation goes like this: Me: yes, I was expecting some packages today and only received part of them UPS CSR: what's the tracking number Me: 1z bunch of numbers.... UPS CSR: we returned the packages to the sender because we couldn't locate the address. Me: what do you mean you couldn't locate the address? UPS CSR: our driver was unable to locate the address Me: so, I have 3 boxes, all addressed to the same address and you deliver 1, but you returned the other 2 because you couldn't locate the address??? UPS CSR: yes ma'am. Me: that makes no sense. They delivered a box to that address. How can they not locate an address they're at, delivering a box to, yet fail to locate it for the other 2 boxes??? UPS CSR: that's all the notes I have. Can I help you with anything else? Me: no thank you, you've done enough. Needless to say, we are now behind on that job... And won't be utilizing UPS's fine location and delivery skills.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I think the USPS generally does an amazing job with the volume of mail/packages it has to deliver and for the cost it is able to do so. Yes, I'm sure their are problems but if you think about the volume of mail and the small number of mistakes in comparison, I still think they do a wonderful job. And, for those who think the reason the USPS is going broke is because of service issues and losing customers you're mistaken. Congress a few years back decided the USPS needed to fund their retirement for many years beyond what other government entities are required to do. The Congress then can take this funded retirement and post it against our country's deficit, making the deficit appear smaller than it actually is. It's our Congress cooking the books again just in another way! As for UPS, FedEx and the combo delivery service, if they were delivering ALL of their own packages, they would either be losing money or their rates would raise astronomically. They contract with the USPS to deliver many of their packages because it's cheaper to pay USPS to deliver than it is to provide their own delivery services in many cases. Finally for those of you who think the USPS "SUCKS"....just wait, if they're done away with, who do you think is going to deliver Grandma's birthday card all the way across the United States for less than 50 cents? Certainly not UPS or FedEx!! BabyBlessing.....I hope your package arrives soon. I'm sure with it documented returned by a specific date HSN will honor the return.

I have had good luck with USPS service so far, but maybe it helps to live in a small town as I do. We always use Priority. Some of the larger, heavier boxes we have sent to my nephews in Chicago were pricey, but we never looked into the flat rate options as we should have. I'm meeting with UPS and FedEx reps to discuss options because I want to offer customers the lowest shipping rates possible, of course, while still getting packages delivered as quickly as possibe.

| I use USPS International Flat Rate regularly. Using Click N Ship postage was always $13.25 instead of the $15.45 regular rate - discount for doing it online. But since the postal increase the cost has risen to $16.95 and no discount for doing it online. A $3.70 increase (which I have to pass on to my client). I called them to see if there was a mistake and the young lady said she would check. She obviously went online to check because she said "Oh , you are right, there doesn't appear to be a discount on the international rate, I'm sorry" I use Fedex mostly for business, but Fedex is too expensive for international shipping.

| I use FedEx almost exclusively. Every once in awhile, I'll cave and use USPS just because the free flat-rate boxes make it so easy. But the lines at USPS are always SO LONG around here...and they are only open certain hours. I live about a mile away from a 24/7/365 FedEx and have rarely had to wait in line.
