1 Attachment(s) Well, I put my tree up & decorated it last night. Today, I slid it to the only spot it can go in my living room....and it looks kind of strange & I'm not sure how to fix it. I don't like the look of the empty space above my corner china cabinet. I either need to raise my tree somehow and/or put something above the china cabinet. I thought about some greenery, but thought it might look wierd to see the tree end and then see greenery above it. Any ideas? |
Beautiful tree how about Christmas cookie jars on top of your china cabinet |
If you could find a medium size Santa in his sled taking off with the reindeer and lay down the fake snow mat. |

You could put Pointsettias or green pine needle garland with santa, or elves, or garland that you have on the tree....or miniature village or nativity scene...just a few suggestions... |

I've been trying a few things with what I have...nothing looks good. The space is actually shallow as the cabinet isn't deep at all and then the roof of it dips down below the crown moulding at the top. As I'm a hardcore DIYer, with house projects galore going on, I've got lots of scrap wood, so I'm thinking about trying to make something like this : MERRY CHRISTMAS Santa Tree Wood Sign Shelf by SimpleBlockSayings |
1 Attachment(s) :santawink:Got my Shirley Temple, Elf On the Shelf :grinningelf:and the big lighted Christmas candle from last year out tonight. Here is a picture of Shirley, the Elf and Candle from last year. You can see the candle just under Santa's left arm. It has red glitter in an oil liquid or something in it and when it warms up, like a Lava Lamp, the glitter roils all around and swirls so pretty. The camera down the hall so I'll get pictures of them this year tomorrow when I bring in the big Santa out of storage. This year Shirley is in a pink party dress. :snowman2: |
I am sooo in love with the Elf on a Shelf story, I wish I could have kids hmm maybe Guinny needs one haha And that sign would look super cute I think, I saw one that was a countdown to Christmas with number blocks you changed that would be cute too and I figure easy to make. |
4 Attachment(s) Ok- I want to jump in on this fun thread. I have one of the largest Fontanini (5" scale) Nativity displays in the USA. We belong to a "mega church" that has a huge Christmas cantata, so I get to share our family's 33 year Christmas tradition with thousands of people each year. It takes my crew of 8 several days to finish the assembly. This year I am entering an international competition, and I think I have a good chance at winning or placing. Here's the best part. Our 3 yr. old grandson was finally old enough this year to have the honor of placing baby Jesus in his manger. It was tearful "Nana moment" to see the family tradition continue with the next generation. |

Love, love, love Elf on the Shelf. Not for the kids....I want one myself!!! :D But there's only ZoE to hide him & get him up to mischief each nite....and I have a feeling with her, it would just be a one-time mischief event of destuffing him! Oh....I just cut my wood blocks for my project...10pm at nite...lol Just gonna go run & get a quick coat of spray paint on them so they can dry overnight. |

Jeanie- I love your Shirley Temple doll. She is adorable, and you keep her dressed so beautifully. She is very special! |
Kim, that is absolutely spectacular. I wish you could video the whole thing with backlighting, close-ups and such and put it on DVD to lovely Christmas music. I'd buy one! I'll bet you do win the competition! I absolutely adore the huge nativity scenes with all of the extra's of the little town of Bethlehem, the people, etc. What a fabulous collection. I'm blown away by it. Exquisite. I have an older Fontanini nativity I got in the late 70's or something like that. They are kind of brownish not bright looking as yours - and the standing figures are the 7.5", I guess - something like that. The Mary is so very pretty and the Baby Jesus so darling in his little manger, fat, curly-haired. Joseph is very well done. I have a cherub and harkening angel, some animals and two or three village people. I hope this year to get the 3 wise men on Ebay. They were frightfully expensive all that time ago even on sale. Your nativity is just too impressive for words. I would love to see more when you can post pictures!!! Or do that DVD!!!! |

By the way, Santa's head is not nearly as red as it looks in that picture. It is wonderfully high-color in his cheeks but not like in that picture and the rest of the face is skin-toned. It's the most wonderful Santa head I've ever seen for a mannequin, which I also have - a lifesize cloth mannequin the head fits on and I have a gorgeous velvet Santa suit, boots, mittens, etc., to go on it. But he takes up a whole chair so usually I just go with the standing Santa lately standing by the tree. Tibbe has a lot to say about and to that Santa, I'll tell you! |
