Sadly the Best Buy salesmen know my husband by name and all run to greet him when we walk in the door... If he misses a week going in they have been known to even call and check on him. But we are hoping to get those they only have 5 TVs at some low price that we might have to get in a fight for lol we already warned the husband we are stealing his truck that night because we would have a huge backseat for stuff and its so large and scary people just move out of its way.

Sounds like my kinda shopping spree - I love me some fine media - huge bright flat TV's and great big sound where you can hear every single midtone and tiny tinkle besides the beastly bass. Do you dicker them down in price and go out for a fine dinner or to the lingerie shop after with the savings?

Well I would have said you would love our football/ movie room but the bass part killed it lol this is our big TV room but an older picture when we had less speakers lol yes I said LESS haha

That is some system! Are those analog speakers or 2.1 or 5.1-channel or another mixture? Most speakers for HDTV really - excuse the expression - suck IMHO and everything is going virtual to satisfy our thirst for ultra thin or invisible. My old analog speakers and subwolfer rock but I only use them occasionally because of the delay. Still, on ProLogic Dolby Surround, turned on low for football games and concerts, they do crowd noise & ambiance as if one were in the stadium or symphony hall.

Put the Christmas Tree up late yesterday afternoon! I don't think I've ever had a Christmas Tree up so early! It means I can now start to watch Christmas movies anytime I want. Next is dragging that big old Santa Clause lifesize figure out of storage and finding the Nativity scene plus my little Ideal Baby Jesus doll in his little manger.

Well, after clearing up the yard the other weekend, I decided to put to outdoor christmas lights while the weather is still nice.

I bought the last few packs of contractor grade icicle lights on clearance at ACE after last Christmas (woohoo...love a sale!) I measured out where they needed to start & end to hit an outdoor plug and up they went.

Now, I knew I needed exactly two more packs (and would be paying full price...grrr), so off I went to the local hardware store. Buy them, get home, start uping them up and discover that...this year, each string is TWO foot shorter than last year, in the same brand! So now I'm 4 foot short over my garage :(.

Ah...the joys of the holiday season...:rolleyes:

Oh, no! Two feet shorter! Wow! Everything we buy but TV's is shrinking! I got some Little Debbie Christmas Tree Brownies a couple weeks back and when I was poking around in the Christmas Closet, I found a box from last year's Little Debbie Holiday Cakes that Danny or someone had stuck empty in there when putting away Christmas things. It was red, had Santa Claus on it, all Christmas-y looking and I guess he thought it was a decoration or, being a man, just didn't even notice so scooped it up with other decorations in the kitchen and off it all went. Anyway, I brought it out to throw away and thought it looked different. I put it beside this year's box and last year's box of cakes was 1/3 larger than this year's. I can't believe how dinky this year's box of goodies looked next to that old one and I think it was the same price or higher! Even the 3 liter Diet Cola's are 2.5 is some stores now.

I think those icicle lights are so pretty. I wish we had battery operated ones for placing along a table or something for inside.

Now that it finally got cool/cold here, lots of trucks up and down the alley delivery wood for fireplaces! I know because Tibbe announces every single one of them and barks until they leave.

Haha. I usually drag my Santa out first, too. But I just had to plug up that tree to be sure it worked. And oh, Santa is standing way back behind some big dolls this year. I've got to move them first!

Shirley Temple is still standing where she was when she came and I put her in the den one year ago!!! Changed her outfit at Easter but she's in basically the same spot, same position!!! She is standing right beside the Christmas Tree, just where I always envisioned one would stand if I ever got an Ideal 35" ST!

Not yet. Going to wait a bit and enjoy her in the fancy party dress by the tree and then take it off so it won't get too crushed, put her in a red velvet dress I have and the white fur coat over it! I'm so excited. Boy, do I wish I could find that red coat/hood that that ST wears on the front of that ST book! I'd have her in the white fur one year and the red coat the next!

That room is actually set up 7.2 all Klipsch reference series.... My husband has a umm SMALL Klipsch addiction we make fun of, last we counted we are at 42 speakers around the house:cool:

Cleaned my hall for over 2 hours. It sparkles top to bottom. Decorated the house a bit more. Kept bath today changing things and redoing - ugh! Am so sore from all the climbing, crouching, crawling, scrubing, cleaning up and down and up and down a zillion times I doubt I'll sleep much tonight. Every muscle screaming OUCH!!!

I am sure I have lost my mind this year because I have decided I want to make my own ornaments for my tree... We will see how long that last haha

Okay put my tree up yesterday and I also drug out my other tree and took it to my moms and set it up. Since Jeanie had hers up gave me the push I needed I don't have a life size Santa like the two of you.

Yea can't say that I care about my neighbor's feelings in fact we have already went to battle... Going bald attempt at a ponytail long greasy hair pushing 450 lbs can walk but rides a motorized cart around the yard to yell at his yard care men and his beautiful wife calling her a worthless whore oh and he has his own band that SUCKS and practices facing my house... Lets just say 2 Live Crew and Beastie Boys he does not care for and will stop his practice lol

Ohhhhhhhhhh, neighbor-guy sounds like a real winner! Don't you just despise really mean people??? Thankfully I have never had a hateful one except the lady on the other side whose dogs used to bark so much! She finally got that in hand after I went over to her house to complain after years of letters, calling Animal Control x3 but I never would sign an official complaint. She stopped those dogs barking and she even calls and I call her about neighborhood things, etc. But I hear living next to really awful beastie people is awful!

I have not done anything. So sad. Not really into it this holiday. They keep pushing the holiday more and more. I don't want to see Christmas stuff before Halloween. Hum bug

And those Christmas TV commercials seem to start the moment we hit September these days! And the TV movies and local Christmas live stage shows and church pageants all begin to be advertised on TV and in the newspapers, on the web very eary.

We have lived there 2 years and nobody spoke to us until we brought home the new truck and then of course all the men had to come be nosey, I think they are all confused of us because we don't really look our ages and we are always driving different cars and trucks and he was gone for a year now that he is back we often have like 4 to 8 (this is going to sound bad lol) of his Mexican roofing crews that speak no English sitting under our tree in the morning waiting on him.
I managed to get the stuff from the attic but that is all so far.

I used to think that, then when I moved house and had to haul all that christmas stuff up out of the basement and move it and find a place in my new house (that is REALLY small and space is valuable), and I thought how rediculous is this that we store all this stuff for almost all of the year, to then just display it for a few weeks.

That's when I decided if it's going to take up valuable storage space, I need to make it worth more, so I want a WHOLE month of Christmas decorating out of my trouble. So I don't mind the seasonal stuff being in the stores well ahead of time, so I can find things I want, and get it all up and decorated and still get a whole month of display time out of it.

Well, I'll bet nobody wants to "mess with you all" with all those guys hanging around or at least on call! I thought the neighbor's barking dogs were bad but a loud, live band playing next doors!!! Oh, that is just nothing you can use "white noise" to blot out, is it?

Hey, getting all the stuff out of storage is half the battle! You have definitely made progress! I would have my Santa Claus figure in here but there is so much "stuff" in front of him in the hobby room, I just don't want to go through the hassle of moving all of that yet! Ugh! Then I have to get that big lug - I mean Santa - all the way down the hall and through the living room corner and into the den without a hand dragging against something, scratching it or somehow messing him up. Then I have to get him all "refreshed", his clothes fluffed up, puffed out, smoothed, his wig and beard brushed and refit on, his Santa hat fixed and put on just so. It has to sit to one side a bit and the tassel hang just right and all of that just takes about 2 hours. So far, I just haven't had the spine, and by that I mean courage, to do it - AND LISTEN TO THE BARKING TIBBE ENJOYS DOING FOR A LOT OF THE TIME I'M WORKING.

Tibbe has a good deal to say about all of the Santa-dragging and the very fact of him. That big strange kind of human-looking thing terribly offends Mr. Tibbs!!! After I'm all done and showering, redressing, relaxing, Tibbe is all over Santa, sniffing him out and inspecting him endlessly for the first day, even trying to stand up against his leg to smell. Frequently there are serious growls and Yorkie threats issued for the rest of the day and the next. I've been awakened in the middle of the night by Tibbe down in the den barking at Santa Claus the first couple of days he's up. So, it's something you really have to be "up" for, getting Santa Claus into this den beside the tree!

Rather glad you shared that because I was just looking at a life size Santa the hmm what do they call that style.... From what I see online some call him Father Christmas style Santa.. Anyway I was looking at a 6 foot tall one thinking I would love him peeking out my bay window and was going to go get him tonight BUT I never thought about how the guard dog yorkie would feel hmmm thinking I will save my money now haha plus to be honest I never thought about where in the heck would be go after Christmas... Knowing me I would have just said screw it and left him there and just add clothes for each holiday haha

hehe. Believe me, I've thought about it! He's just as much trouble to put away with a Christmas tree bag over him and a trash bag slipped over his feet so dust, etc., can't get to him the other 11 months he's stored. But he's a retro 50's looking traditional, happy Coca-Cola-looking Santa Claus so I have to have him out. One year I replicated one of those Coke ad scenes using toddler size dolls, the note to Santa to "please pause here" on the mantle, etc. It was lots of fun for a day or two then back to the regular scene.

I could just see me getting up in the middle of the night after hearing a noise then freaking out forgetting what it was and putting a bullet in him lol

The first year or two I had him, it was a bit jarring at times to wander into the den to let Jilly out in the middle of the night or early morning and see this old white-haired guy with a beard standing by my Christmas tree in my den smiling! Just before I panicked and screamed, it dawned on me, it's Santa Claus! After that, my brain finally accepted the fact of his being around and he just kind of blends in after a day or two. 'Course, now I have Tibbe, who barks at him the first day or two and he gets to the den first and warns me, telling me that Santa is there before I see him; but if Tibbe hangs back or doesn't go with me, it still gets a bit dodgey the first day or two he's up! If I had a gun on me, I'd probably draw on him more than once the first day!

I wonder if anyone has ever shot their lifesize Santa by mistake???? :D

Stepped out last night and was shocked to see all the yards in the neighborhood that had sprung into life with lights!!! Had twice as many as before. Yesterday when Tibbe and I went for a walk, half the husbands in the neighborhood were on the roofs! Tibbe barked and barked for them to come down right now as we'd come upon one after the other in passing. He took great exception to those guys being up there where he didn't think they should be.

Woke up to see snow covered ground this morning...definately a sign it's time to put up the Christmas tree & get out the decorations!

Here's snow on my outdoor deer. Those & the icicle lights are all I have done so far outside. Still need to dig the outdoor trees & wreaths out of the basement.
