Matter of fact, that is how my Christmas eve morning was spent....out the door with a dog dying in my arms...in my pajamas. Straight to a vet! No thinking to it...no asking what to do...take the dog for HELP.

I honestly do not understand someone just sitting and letting a dog die. Sorry...but there are places to take them to get help. And, if you cannot afford it, sign them over if you can. Do something...don't just sit on your computer and type. Not only is the poster upset, but the animal lovers reading it are also upset...maybe even MORE so since they cannot do anything!
when i made my very first post here, it was one of gratitude. i meant every word of it. generally speaking, i do not have trouble writing as writing is what i do. however, even i made sure to point out in my very first post that i now knew i had gotten lulu before she was of the "proper" age. why did i point that out? because i was simply looking to say "hello, thanks for the helpful information. i'm happy to be here, and so in love with my new little one!!! she is lulu and look....isn't she adorable??!!" ...not "hello, thanks for the helpful information. i'm happy to be here, and so in love with my new little one!!! she is lulu and look...isn't she adorable??!!...please now proceed to scare me to death with the barrage of things that could have happened to a little one released before 10-12 weeks....and please now proceed to cast aspersions on her breeder...a wonderful woman, btw.....and please now proceed to make me feel like an idiot for not realizing i should have come here and sought out your opinions and blessings before having the audacity to actually choose the newest member of my family on my own."

this is a wonderful place. there are some improvements that could be beneficial. in no way does the second sentence nullify the first.

the op stated clearly, in the title even, that she knew it was the end. she wasn't seeking anything at all but comfort. the third degree hit immediately. days later the questions in regard to her parenting, her financial situation, her general lifestyle, were still being posted in spite of the fact that it was clear she'd been run out of here. indeed, people were angry she hadn't bothered to get back here and answer their questions. i find that beyond disturbing.

many of us would do the same. this is because we are fortunate to live in areas where vets are available 24/7, because we have transportation, because we have not lost employment that would make it financially impossible, because our skin kids are perfectly healthy, because we are perfectly healthy, because we have family to help...the list goes on and on. we live in a world where people are going without vital medications for themselves due to the economy, dying as a result at times. point being, you are blessed with a feeling of security that many do not have. this does not mean they love their yorkies any less. nor does it mean that the pain of losing one hurts any less.

an animal lover need not be an animal lover to the exclusion of showing loving kindness to that animal's hurting human parent. the woman i mentioned was shamed here, and those were the feelings her little one likely picked up on at the very end. that was not her fault. that was the fault of the people who treated her wrongly and also, the people like me who followed it from beginning to end but didn't have the guts to speak up. i for one am ashamed of that and will make sure it doesn't happen again.

to be clear...in regard to my last post, the purple remarks are my responses to ladyjane. i felt that was obvious given the quotation marks, but if i made a technical error and some were confused by it....my apologies.

i have learned a lot from the responses in this thread and even from the fact that it has now been deemed off-topic.

cheers.

oh wait...now it looks like the complaint is about the last portion of my post which never even mentioned another member. quotation marks are used not only to reference a direct quote, but also when a writer is referencing a "hypothetical" one....such as i just did here. it is standard writing practice.

Just my opinion of course but in my way of thinking it is just this type of post that is the biggest problem.

To say, If I had or If it was me etc... is simply not a fair statement. It isn't you and even though you had a situation with a dying dog recently it does not mean that your situation was anything like hers. You don't know her situation, you weren't there, you did not walk in her shoes. You do not know what you would have done in her shoes as you do not know what the entire situation entailed and to say that you would have done such and such is simply uncalled for and won't help the situation. I surely don't see where it is educating.

There are so many variables when dealing with people online who you do not know. You do not know thier family situation, thier mental status, where they are in life or the things that may have changed and gone on in thier lives to bring them where they are right now.

Again, just how I see it.

i have learned a lot from the responses in this thread and even from the fact that it has now been deemed off-topic.
To also help clarify, because I really can't tell what is meant by "i have learned something by the fact that it has now been deemed off-topic" -->

During the exact same time frame this thread was moved, I also moved about 8 threads to Health & Diet, 2 threads to Grooming, about 3 threads to Training, edited 1 thread in Video, and moved THIS thread here. And that is part of what I have to do here at YT.

If there is something you would like to say about the fact that it was moved here, you can feel free to say it. I would appreciate it if you did not insinuate something about the reason it may have been moved here - as that is what it appears you may be doing above. If you would like a description of what each Section is for, those are listed on the main forum page. The description for the General section is "For General Talk About Yorkies" -- which should help explain why I moved this discussion, as well as why I spend time moving other threads. Thanks.

The reason I mentioned OFF TOPIC is because General Discussion is for talking about "Yorkies". This thread was started for the sole purpose of one person to voice her "opinion" about YT after being on here for a year.

The reason I quoted your last post is because I feel like you're starting to get condescending. Please don't come on here telling us about standard writing practices when you can't even capitalize the first word in your sentences.

Bottom line is - this is a huge forum. No one is going to agree with everyone all the time. If you don't like what you're reading, hit the ignore button, contact admin, skip over that post or just move on to another thread.

Yes, some comments may seem to be harsh but that's life - on or off this forum. You have to remember how long some of these members have been here and how many questions they have answered. Sometimes it just happens.

I, for one, am thankful for finding YT. This forum has some of the most caring and knowledgable people I know. I can't even begin to say how much I've learned here. I hope you'll feel that way one day.

Okay, now I must ask ... what is the thread you are referring to?

As for your going on about people being wrong about stating facts to educate, I can only say that education often falls on deaf ears; but that does not mean we should not speak up for the tiny little animals who have no voices. Often, when people are defensive, there is a reason for it. They know something is wrong but don't care to be educated OR change their behaviors.

No the complaint was about the quotes attributed to me that were not made by me.
They have been fixed.
Since you are a writer, I am sure you understand that when a quote is highlighted and attributed to someone, it cannot be added to.
