The best thing you can do right now is to keep an antibiotic slave on it but make sure it doesn't get in his eye. It is so close! Poor guy. I was always told that vaseline put on a scar every day will help to minimize it. This was from a nurse after my daughter's facial surgery. I hope he heals quickly. I feel so badly for him. He is a cutie! A sad looking one, but a cutie nonetheless. | |

| I did the same thing to my knee when I was about 20. I fell going down on a hill on blades & skidded on gravel on top of cement. It was really deep & really gross. I'm sure I picked the scab because I'm a scab picker & you can barely see where it was. I just recently had a tattoo removed & I was very worried about it scarring. My Plastic surgeon told me to keep it moist until it was completely healed. She recommended I use aquaphore instead of antibacteral ointment. She said the antibacteral ointment can cause an allergic reaction if you use it too many days in a row. She also told me to applie sunscreen to it until it returned to it's normal color. My last treatment was in March & it's healed up manificently with no scar. I think keeping it moist & not picking the scab is the most important.

| Use neosporin until the skin has healed back together, then begin using maderma with spf 3-4 times DAILY for I believe 2-3 months. You could also have a plastic surgeon look at it and they can give you a prescription for scarring cream. Maderma SPF is great though. You want the SPF to protect from the sun harming the scar

| Just wanted to bump this and share what I was told yesterday. We took my daughter back to see the surgeon yesterday and he told me about this stuff: Scar Treatment and Skin Scarlight - Scarguard MD & Scarlight MD He said that he really has not seen enough of an impact with any of the other products out there to convince him to actually recommend them to his patients, but said that he does with this one. He said it was developed by plastic surgeons and that some of the other docs he works with have used it and really like it. I pulled up the site to read about it and crikey is it expensive! But whatever works... He said you could buy it at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc. |
