| ![]() Wow and my goodness! I have been gone all day, and have just read through the last few pages of posts. I have to say that Dena has a much better handle on what Emma needs than I had with Zaccheus' needs. I was just using trial and error. It wasn't until he was eight weeks old and through most of the difficult stuff that I researched online and found info about his condition. I spent many hours and days wondering if what I was doing to keep him alive was best for him. If you read our story you will get that. But from this side of the road, I can't imagine doing less than I did. I'm sure Breny feels the same way. Saving the life of a cleft puppy is completely worth it. And PS, did you all know that they dock tails and remove dew claws with no anesthesia? That is no worse than the pain Emma has been through with her oral surgeries. The only concern I have ever had about doing oral surgery on Zacchie has nothing to do with how much pain he would be in. It had everything to do with whether it would be successful, and if it would have to be repeated. The choice I have made is different from the one Dena has made, but she is doing what she feels is best for the little one entrusted to her care. That's all any of us can do. And she's doing a darn good job of it!

| ![]() I have to say that I also have been watching the live feed, keeping up with the updates, and praying for both Dena and Emma. I have been there, done that with a cleft baby and happy to report that my little girl is alive, happy and extremely healthy. It was the most exhausting, and mentally draining thing I have ever done. Suggesting at this point to put Emma down is not an option for Dena for Emma is thriving. Once you make a decision to save a baby, you put your soul into saving that baby. As bonded as they are, she would know if it became necessary to let Emma go, and I know Dena would do the right thing if that were the case. Dena, you are doing a wonderful job and I feel that things happen for a reason. So many things happened just right for you to even find the ad, and to have the heart to give it a try. I KNOW what you're going through, how you're feeling, and praying for both you and Emma. |

| ![]() WOW-I just saw the live feed for the first time! How cool is that????? She was wiggling. I think that is SO adorable. This could be quite addicting. Maybe I could do that for my furbabies at home and watch them when I am at work-I would miss them less, I am sure of it. Lol-just kidding-they would NEVER stay within the range of the camera. But-I could watch Emma all day ![]()

| ![]() I pray that this little girl's pain is not too much and that she makes it through this trying time so early in her little life ![]() Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but there is no right or wrong scenario IMO, it's just more of doing whatever can be done to help this little baby make it through even with a very imperfect situation and to pray the outcome will be a pain - free, "normal" life. |

| ![]() I'm just watching the live feed for the first time. How stinkin' cute is that baby? She was sleeping a little bit away from the stuffed dog and then woke up and wriggled her way over and is now all snuggled up- it is so cute! Dena I hope today is a good day for you and Emma! Sending hugs to you both. ![]()

Yorkie Talker | ![]() I have been following this post for the last few days and I'm so impressed with Dena and Emma's strength! You guys are making such a great team and all the added support from the YT forum is just amazing! I truly believe we are all doing everything we can through material or spiritual donations and that these thoughts, prayers, and "atta girls!" are really helping! I have told my whole family about Emma's fight for survival and my mom has told all the women in her office! We're all here with you Emma! Keep truckin' through! |

| ![]() Dena, You are my hero! I am still praying for you and Emma. I just wanted to mention that my niece was born with multiple birth defects among which was a hair lip and full cleft palette (both hard and soft). When we heard about all of the things that were wrong our first thoughts were "I hope she doesn't make it." That is hard to admit now but it is what it is. BUT, personally speaking, the first time I laid eyes on that baby and held her my heart was taken and there was nothing I wouldn't do for her. A lot of the time it meant staying up all night in hospitals following one of many many surgeries. It meant special feeding and my brother and sister-in-law needed all the help they could get. Kim turned out to be a remarkable young woman who dedicated her life to nursing and taking care of children with birth defects. She died in a car accident at the age of 23 leaving several thousand friends to grieve. In her short life she touched many people. So, little Emma is doing the same thing in her own way. She is touching many of us and bringing us to tears with her strength and will to live. When you criticize Dena you are hurting all of us along with her so stop and think before you post. Dena sees the value of this little life and is fighting to save her. And Emma will be a tribute to what unconditional love can do. Her special story will inspire others to succeed. Dena will inspire others to care and keep trying. She has already taught us much about self sacrifice. Last edited by Wylie's Mom; 08-13-2008 at 06:33 AM. |
