Wow and my goodness! I have been gone all day, and have just read through the last few pages of posts.
I have to say that Dena has a much better handle on what Emma needs than I had with Zaccheus' needs. I was just using trial and error. It wasn't until he was eight weeks old and through most of the difficult stuff that I researched online and found info about his condition.
I spent many hours and days wondering if what I was doing to keep him alive was best for him. If you read our story you will get that. But from this side of the road, I can't imagine doing less than I did. I'm sure Breny feels the same way. Saving the life of a cleft puppy is completely worth it.
And PS, did you all know that they dock tails and remove dew claws with no anesthesia? That is no worse than the pain Emma has been through with her oral surgeries. The only concern I have ever had about doing oral surgery on Zacchie has nothing to do with how much pain he would be in. It had everything to do with whether it would be successful, and if it would have to be repeated.
The choice I have made is different from the one Dena has made, but she is doing what she feels is best for the little one entrusted to her care. That's all any of us can do.
And she's doing a darn good job of it!
