According to YTCA's Standards page, adult colors should be: "BLUE: Is a dark steel blue, not a silver blue and not mingled with fawn, bronzy or black hairs. TAN: All tan hair is darker at the roots than in the middle, shading to still lighter tan at the tips. There should be no sooty or black hair intermingled with any of the tan." Also says that the heads can be a Golden tan. There is no mention about black coats in adults. On the disqualification ruling page: Any solid color or combinations of colors other than Blue and tan (will be disqualified)

| ![]() Thats all fine and dandy but... I guess my concern would be the high prices that are being charged because they are "Chocolates" and are "rare". There are some YT members with adorable "choclates". I am sure they would disagree with me. I just think capatilizing on certain terms is what makes it all so bad.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | ![]() I guess i am confused to I know that if they are parti or chocolate etc they have to send in pics of the dog and it can be registered but what i don't get is the black coats??? I think they are beautiful and don't understand why they can't be shown if they have the right points?? They are not a different breed and aren't classified like the biewer so i don't get it?? I know you could never show a chocolate but a black and tan i feel should be allowed as it is one of the 4 colors to choose from.

The reason I say that is because all the show people are saying that the only dogs that can be shown are the blue/gold ones and I have read that also. BUT, this new puppy application I have shows the FOUR different combinations of colors that they DO accept for sure. I know I can not show a black and gold dog in the ring but I can register a black and gold or black and tan dog. | |

| ![]() The "ONLY" thing that will disqualify a yorkie in the show ring when the new DQ comes out will be about white on a dog can not be on the chest no more than an inch wide on an adult dog or any other white on the head( I can't remember the exact wording). Black and tan dogs will not earn a DQ. I show and do not take in a black and tan adult dog. My Radar is not the perfect gold and I would consider alittle lighter than what it's suppose to be but it's NOT a DQ and yes I will strive for the correct color but as I've stated in another thread structure and movement is more important to me in the show ring the coat is just icing on the cake per say....I wouldn't take in a black adult dog even with correct structure because there are correct color and coated yorkies with great structure and movement. On "MY" litter registration papers there are no boxes to check other than what I posted before so therefore in my mind that is the only accepted colors with AKC. In the YTCA it's a dark steel blue with a shaded tan. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

| ![]() My question is simple...Winston's papers say he is Blue and Gold. All his ancestors were listed as Blue and Gold on his Pedigree. I'm not seeing Blue and Gold, I'm seeing Black and Tan. I'm not showing him or breeding him, and I love him dearly...no matter what color he is. But if the standard is only Blue and Tan...isn't he off colored?

018 Black and Tan 041 Blue and Gold 044 Blue and Tan 234 Black and Gold Those are the colors on the registration papers. IMO, it's safe to say that those colors also include puppy colors...black/tan, black/gold. Most people get puppies around 12 weeks of age. What colors are puppies at that age? Black/tan or black/gold. Now some people will register their puppies before their colors break. Those that decide to wait longer (after coat break) may register Blue/gold or Blue/tan. Just a thought.
