Well I do know of some. Not all breeders are keeping it a secret any more. Just because you don't know any of them personally doesn't mean they don't exist. If I were a show breeder, and I found a surprise in my whelping box, and knowing your feelings towards this, I would probably not tell you either. If you want to be privy to secrets, you need to display an open mind.

The gene has to be on both sides in order to produce a parti colored pup.

If you're referring to the line that I mentioned, it's no secret. And no, I've never been to their homes but I purchased Kid's Time to Parti who is by Nikkos Russian Roulette (parti) x Nikko's Magic in the Night. Nikkos Russian Roulette is by Nikko's Great Expectations (parti). Kid has at least 4 to 5 generations of all Nikkos breeding. The breeder of Kids Time to Parti is listed as Starla Harris and Gloria Lipman.

Sdame dog, different countries the Biewers originated in Germany, but they were the fproduct of two traditional colored yorkies, just like the partis are.

The Germans were more open minded, and allowed the breeders to start their own breed club so the Biwers and the yorkies are not shown together even though they are all yorkies.

I wish people would get to know the show world before they get into speaking what they consider to be 'facts'. You have to know the show world to know how things occur. I have seen many byb's in show clothes by the way and they are not show breeders I would deal with ever.
There are show breeders and then there are show breeders. Unfortunately some not so reputable show breeders got their hands on some mighty fine lines and dragged those through the mud.
Having said all that, of course, anyone can produce a wrong colour, blaiming it on champions and saying that's where it came from is why most show breeders who are reputable will not let their dogs go or be studded to non show breeders or show breeders they are not sure of, because they could very well be breeding to something that can be carrying any anomoly and it will be the show breeder that gets the blame.
I believe the AKC relented and registered parti colours because someone somewhere who had them sued AKC and they had more money than AKC was willing to spend to fight it out in court. Initially, AKC turned applications down flat for particolour YOrkies. It was not this dog you mentioned and I have no idea who the parti colour breeder was.

Agree with you 100% Lorraine, I've seen many byb's showing their dogs only
with one thought in their minds, get that Champion in the pedigree so I can sell puppies for more money.....Just attempting to make themselves appear reputable....talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

Thanks for the opinion! I do appreciate it. I think they should become it's own breed also if it were to be acceptable as a noticable (sp?) wanted trait show by breeders...

I think that you have misunderstood Mary. She is saying that it is not a good idea to destroy someones reputation on rumor and innuendo. You would want the same respect shown to your breeding. Anyone can say they heard such in such about you know who, but it doesn't make it true!

Yes it would, and hopefully some day it will be. But to get to that point, we have to breed enough of them and get a standard set. that is why I don't believe it is wrong to breed them.
Every breed got it's start somewhere and no doubt had a lot of opposition.

No YTCA has closed that door and it is in the process of being closed in Canada. No one objects to Biewer Terriers which the Biewer breeders are wanting to do.

Personally, I would like to see them accepted in the Yorkshire Terrier breed. I've seen standards change in equine breeds with regard to color and where color was once a very negative thing, it's now accepted and sought after. Through education and a better understanding of genetics, hopefully one day, things will change.

This may be a crazy question, but have you ever seen a parti yorkie born when only one parent was a parti and the other is a... traditional (not sure if that is right). Maybe that has happened then that breeder then claims it was a carrier.

I no nothing on parti's and am asking all possible questions to have a parti can be born.... I'm not trying at attack you or anything! I want to know everyone's opinion that breed partis.

I know nothing of breeding and showing, but while following along with this thread I wondered....Would it really destroy a show breeders reputation if they produced a parti, etc? That seems extreme. Just curious.

The YTCA can change their minds. Never say never. If someone with enough cash behind them got to pushing it, you'd be surprised what could happen.

And it does not have to be done through the YTCA. I believe if they are bred long enough to establish a fairly predictable standard, that they will eventually be accepted as a breed of their own.

Just because they all say NO today does not mean that it can't happen in the future.

I don't think this will happen in our lifetime......I can only base this on the YTCA powers that be along with their membership. They are adamant on this subject.....too many yorkie snob pureist in the membership, with new young members coming up through the ranks.

They witnessed it happen to the Pom's.....and as the masses of YTCA said, they will not sit on there hands and let it happen to the Yorkshire Terrier.
