| I would be very mad also. But now you have to think about it.....if that is how they TALKED about your Maximus and that is how they told you he would be TREATED while waiting, how do you think he is going to feel about THEM doing his ears? If you can do all but the ears, here is a wonderful suggestion that will have way more than a 50% chance of working....ready....put him on your washer or dryer to do the ears or anything else you need him to hold still for. You will notice that because they aren't in the comfort of your arms or lap, and becuase they do not have good footing (too slippery on those machines), they will "freeze". I have never had a pet be traumatized or anything even close by doing this. It is the same as a grooming table if you don't have one. I don't think you'll every see a grooming table with some plush carpet (LOL). Great place for trimming hair, nails, ears, etc. If you want to try it, please let me know how it goes for you. My Mom's Yorkies act up quite a bit when it is time to do the necessaries and I suggested this to her. It worked immediately! |

| You have every right to be mad. Since it's such a scary thing for Maximus, maybe you could find a groomer who comes to your home. (we have a lot of those in NJ) That way he won't have all of the other stress on top of being groomed. "Just a dog" aaaarrrrhhhhh! I HATE that!

Why don't you try the supplemental grooming table? I think once (or maybe twice) that you do, you'll be happy you did. Not only will it save you money, it will give you peace of mind that the person handling your pet REALLY CARES. Good luck, Julz

| I am very nervous to pull the hair out of Maximus ears and to cut his nails (because they are black)...but he WON'T even let me clean his ears anymore...but I made an appointment at my mom's house this weekend with her washer..lol, and I am gonna try just cleaning his ears and see if I can pluck some hairs... |

One thing I have been able to arrange is for my groomer to come to the house to do "the girls". She only needs come when it's time for nails and hair trims (twice a year on the cats for major bathing and raking out of the coats). In between I give the weekly baths. Actually, it's also a pretty good deal for the groomer as she doesn't have to "kick back" any of what I pay her to the vet. (Some of them take 30-50% of the grooming charge.)

| That's awful! I would talk to the manager and never go back. "He's just a dog" is rude and inexcusable and that employee does not need to work in a vet's office if that is her attitude! I would find a groomer who will let you stay with your pet. Yorkies are the most "kidnapped" dog there is and I would not "leave" my yorkie anywhere. Not takin the chance! |

| Of course I agree with you and everyone else. Forget them. At Petco and Petsmart you can wait and watch while they cut their nails. I always do that. It's quick and painless. Next time you take him to the vet, ask him to pull the hair out of his ears. As for cutting the hair off his bottom, Petsmart or Petco will give him a "sanitary" (as I've heard it called) right in front of you, also. I groom my dogs myself, because I couldn't stand their unhappiness at being at other people's mercy. I got some good clippers, and just started experimenting. At first they weren't great do's, but now they are great, and people ask me where I get them done. However, I do keep them short, except for their heads, because we live out in the country with too many foxtails, burrs, etc. And, they are great for me, never afraid, and I know I would never hurt them, and they know that. With clippers, you can go right over thei private parts and everything. It's easy! |

| "just a dog"......I have never loved a dog like I loved my kids until Yorkies. Well, maybe one but that was 33 years ago and I've lived a hard life since then and don't remember. I have had lots of "just a dog"s since then. These Yorkies have personalities just like people, the only difference is they don't think like people. Well, and I guess they're more hairy. I think I have had the opinion that that's "just a dog" and wondered why people would or how they could treat their dogs like human children. I don't know if I just haven't run into a dog that struck me that close or if I've been too busy trying to survive to get that close to a dog. I really think it's the Yorkie breed, tho. My first, Pirogue, is his own person. He's not what I wanted, HE chooses when we cuddle or love, and still I love him more than you could imagine. But it is so aggravating to want to hold him and kiss him and all he wants is to get away, it hurts. Got off the point here, didn't I. LOL I don't think it would do any good to say anything directly to the girl. I would say something to her boss because, as in my case if it were to happen to me, it would run off customers. To some people dogs are just dogs, but anyone who owns (or is owned by) a Yorkie and truely loves them would be offended by this remark. (This includes you other pet owned lovers. No offense meant. It just seems to be more Yorkie owners than others by percentage.) {I don't think it would do any good to say anything directly to the girl.} I didn't mean this as it sounds, what I meant was that I would be so upset that I'd say the wrong thing and possibly cause an arguement.
