I absolutely agree with this sentiment. Even if the groomer is an independent contractor what she (and her employees) have to say reflects on the vet. I'd look for a new vet...and I'd let the one I have know exactly why I was leaving! (Given the number of pets in this household, and how really well they are cared for, I've got to think that we'd be a loss to him.)

One thing I have been able to arrange is for my groomer to come to the house to do "the girls". She only needs come when it's time for nails and hair trims (twice a year on the cats for major bathing and raking out of the coats). In between I give the weekly baths. Actually, it's also a pretty good deal for the groomer as she doesn't have to "kick back" any of what I pay her to the vet. (Some of them take 30-50% of the grooming charge.)
