| ![]() I’m sorry this happened to you, but more than anything I’m sorry you’re loosing sleep over it. There’s nothing worse than being up in the middle of the night worrying; everything seems so magnified and blown out of proportion. I’m not saying you don’t have reason to be upset; I would be livid. That woman is absolutely terrible and only concerned about herself. I would not do any business with her in the future. She’s unreasonable and unreliable. I hope you make a quick recovery from this and find a good, deserving home for your baby.

| ![]() This is how this breeder sees the situation...YOU spent money that was not yours to spend. Oh, perhaps a deposit is considered yours in the eyes of the law, but a wise breeder never considers the money theirs until the guarantee expires...for me that is a year. You can spend the money, but better make sure you have an account for a genetic problem...it can happen. Never count your chickens until the eggs hatch...saves alot of "insuffient funds" charges...sorry it happened, but you are wiser now...always expect potential buyers to do all sorts of stupid, uncaring things.. I always return deposits if the sale falls through anyway and I think a wise breeder does this...I am not out any money by returning a deposit and I will never force anyone to take a puppy...in fact I don't want deal with people like this...don't stoop to her level. | ![]() I agree, the banking system totally sucks. Have you called your bank and talked to them and asked them to waive some of the chages. Usually if you haven't overdrawn your account within the past 6 months, they will waive some of the fees. Maybe not all but some is better than nothing. The problem with the current system is that, percentage wise, the poorer you are the the greater the fees. You are charged the same fee for bouncing a $20 check as you would be if you bounced a $2000 check. Then once the first fee has been charged more checks will bounce and the merchants in turn will charge a fee and it just escalates out of control. The greatest thing the banks ever did was to initiate the overdraft protection. I love it. I no longer have to worry about overdrafts, however the bank will still charge ME a $7 fee if someone elses check check is returned to me. Now that is totally not fair. |

| ![]() you should know you have the money to write checks in your account reguardless of what happens. that's awful that someone would do that to you or anyone for that matter but it's not ALL her fault it's partly yours also.she should help pay at least half the fees personally i would have waited for the check to clear before i spent the money...but i don't trust everyone at face value..it's pretty sad when you can't trust your fellow man/woman at the very least it could be a good thing ,your puppy didn't go to someone who cannot afford them which means they wouldn't be able to provide for them properly. she seems really irresponsible ...expecting her parents to pay for a puppy she wants and telling you basically too bad because she canceled that check she should be held responsible somehow to learn a lesson. with that said ,sorry that happened to you

| ![]() I know it really sux to learn the hard way. That must have been why they requested cash or a money order, when I bought Venus. I hope your bank will reimburse this one time thing. And I hope small claims court will help you on this. Imho....she should have called you to let you know she stopped payment. Thats just good business, and being kind and courteouos. One thing for sure though, when you learn this way, you don't make that mistake again. Cash, cashiers check or money order, unless they are family! Sorry you got burned! That sucks. |

| ![]() I used to own a hair salon and people would get hundreds of dollars worth of services and write bad checks. After a few I figured out that if it was over 50 dollars I would take it to their bank and cash it. That way if the money wasn't there then i could go back another day. They let you do this three times. However, I agree with the people saying not to write checks on your account if your not sure if the check has cleared. Also you shouldn't ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Now I don't want to come off as a know it all and every state has different laws But with that being said do you not realize that when you take a deposit on a puppy that money by law should go into a escrow account until the puppy is delivered ? That money is not legally in some areas and technically yours until you deliver that puppy UNLESS you have a full "NO REFUND " clause in a written and signed contract when you receive the deposit. I am not a lawyer - just a business person that deals with this type of incident often. By having the money aside you don't run into this problem. Just wanted to share what I have learned over the many years I have been doing this.

| ![]() I'm sorry about your financial bind, that really stinks! I have a question, why would you sell her one of your puppies if she was going to crate it for 12 hours? To me she doesn't seem responsible enough to have a puppy, maybe her parents realized this and wouldn't give her the money.

| ![]() I've had this happen, it sucks and I feel so bad for you. I know I wouldn't have the money for the fees and trying to come up with the money to cover the checks would be a nightmare. My only suggestion is if you ever accept a check again, go to the bank where it was written against and cash it there. You can't put a stop payment on a check that was already cashed, my husband is in construction and learned this little trick, it has saved us from ever having to worry about someone elses check bouncing because you know immediately if they actually have the funds.
