1st yorkie pup! Please help. Any advice on undocked tails or Parti coloring?

No one gets "chased away" unless they choose to be. We have had this topic come up before and quite frankly it is because some people think they know what is best to post. If they would simply stick with their opinions and not confront other members, the OPs would get through it all in a much easier fashion. The PMing that goes on is ridiculous....one person was PMd not so long ago with members trying to get the OP on "their side". Just so childish.

How do I know this happens? I went through something similar when I first joined and I know what goes on. I had a choice....deal with it or leave. There are other forums that are not run as well as this one. As has been said many times, if you think someone is breaking rules, report them. If the post is not removed then accept the decision of the admin/mod and leave the poster alone! Why constantly stir up stuff?
I wish that each person would post their opinion here and move along; but I also know the nature of online forums and accept what happens. Sadly we do have one member that certain people follow around and correct and it is imo more of a problem what that member does. They don't need to be coddling the OPs and confronting others just because THEY don't like the person's opinion.

The reason there is a standard though is to make sure yorkies look like yorkies because there are so many bad breeders out there breeding yorkies and creating yorkies that don't even look like yorkies and that is really damaging the breed. Puppy mills don't care about the standard or even quality they simply care about quantity and money. I do worry about you not really knowing about puppy mills by your comment that there one of the only ones who cares about the standard because I'm pretty sure you could ask owners of several puppy mills what the standard is and they would have no idea. The snobs being another one of the people you say only care about the standard bothered me badly maybe to a point I got to defensive but it was a hurtful comment. I am not a snob I am simply a lover or yorkies standard or not and I certainly don't have a perfect yorkie in the standards eyes. I speak out about reputable breeders so much for one reason because my baby came from a puppy mill and has had to suffer terrible issues and pain because they didn't care about health so I try to push people probably to hard in the direction of a reputable breeder because I don't want someone else to have to watch there dog like that and if we stop buying from puppy mills and non reputable breeders they will eventually have to go out of business. These dogs this breed is in my heart. I have a big love for them and I just want what is best for them and for the breeders who aren't doing right by them to not make money.

Taylor, you have a right to your feelings and opinions and are breaking no rules here in this thread by expressing them. Your passions are yours, and you don't have to defend them if you don't want to.

I am against tail docking but I do not judge those who continue the practice for many reasons. Mostly, because I believe that society has a huge influence on what people perceive as right or wrong. When something has been ingrained as permissible for a very long time, it is hard to persuade our collective minds to look outside of the issue so that it can be analyzed from alternative points of view. I guess my training allows me to be more objective than judgmental or maybe it's part of my personality, I don't know. I do feel sorry for the dogs who are victims of a permissive mentality but I am hopeful that tail docking, like other permissive practices of the past, will soon be frowned upon and/or discontinued in most countries. What I do know is that no one should come on here feeling like they should be afraid to voice their opinion or stick with their opinion because someone else may disagree. No one should be made to feel ignorant for asking a question. No one should feel upset because they have been shown the error of their ways by understanding people who have all made mistakes.


If we could just remember that we are all humans, imperfect by nature, then we could go a long way to restoring what this site should be about -which is learning.


Disagreement is not a bad thing, in fact, it is often necessary to get to the crux of an issue. But, there is a sophisticated, adult way to communicate.

Docking tails and Parti's are the most controversial posts other then food. Just because some one has a different opinion doesn't mean it's negative and it's often looked at that way. I have often been treated like crap on this board and heck yeah I have been scared to voice my opinion many times but I don't leave no matter how much people are sarcastic and nasty putting in there little hits hidden so they can be a bit harder for everyone to see them but they are there. But if a person leaves because another person is nasty or mean they are letting that person win so that is always something people should think about that when leaving. A very wise women told me these people don't pay for rent in your head. I certainly never got angry and I apologized for any issues I may have caused and explained why. I am disabled I have very bad anxiety, depression and several other issues, I am disabled by the states definition not just mine and am legally defined as disabled. I have a passion for dogs and I read a lot about them and a lot about the ones who are products of bad breeding and horrible things happening to them. I also made a promise to Callie after her first bout with one of her genetic issues from bad breeding that I would do everything I can to try and stop bad breeding and the suffering of these poor dogs because of it. I don't want pity for being disabled but I do know most of the people taking there hits at me know about my issues but just like with animals I'm one of the weak easy targets so just keep that in mind when looking at who is really being mean or nasty.

The Biewer Yorkshire a la Pom Pon, prounounced (Bee-vair) originated in Hunsruck, Germany in 1984. Mr. and Mrs. Werner & Gertrude Biewer started the first Biewer Yorkshire through a recessive piebald gene occurance in their Yorkshire Terriers. Although Mr. Werner Biewer passed away in 1997, his legacy lives on through this exquisite rare breed.

Biewer Yorkshires started with the master parents "Darling von Friedheck" and "Fru Fru von Friedheck". Both dogs were blue and tan and were world youth winners in 1981 at Dortmund. Their marriage brought the first blue, white and golden Biewer Yorkshire, "Schneeflocken von Friedheck", born in January of 1984.

Mr. Biewer continued breeding his colored Yorkies to achieve their white bellies and four white paws. In 1989 the Biewer Yorkshire was accepted as it own breed with the ACH German e.V. As we know them today, the Biewer Yorkshire a' la Pom Pon has enchanted us with their elegant coloring and disposition.
The breed standard is that of a Yorkshire Terrier except for the coloring. The head must have three colors; black or blue, white and gold in good symmetry. The belly, chest, legs and the tip of the tail is white. The tail is full. The back is blue or black with white in it. The hair is silky, not curly.

But there have been several times where you've made me feel like you've singled out my post to make a statement regarding topics that have absolutely nothing to do with the posts made and haven't even been brought up. For example questions regarding the studies on s/n and it's effects as well as my thread about whether or not a breeder chose an individual's puppy. Luckily I'm thick skinned from having grown up in pageantry . MY opinions are obviously very different than yours when it comes to some subjects but it *seems* you can't take other opinions just as that, opinions. You're absolutely right when you say no one is paying rent to be on your mind, but while you're thinking people are taking hits at you. It can *feel* as if you're taking hits at them also.

I was stunned when we brought our little Yorkie to America that there was so much surprise that she still has a tail! You are not permitted to remove the tail in the UK and I love her wagging tail. Amazes me that anyone would consider mutilating a dog in such a way - it certainly doesn't make them any more beautiful. Hoping that unless it is a medical necessity, all Yorkies will be allowed to retain their tail as nature intended. I ❤ Yorkies with tails!!!!

I agree. I always feel a bit sick to my stomach when I think about how they do it to them when they are puppies.
