| Do you get Snubbed by other yorkie owners often? And is there a certain type that usually snubs you, if you have noticed? We always seem to get snubbed by owners of cotton coated, stubby legged, short muzzle yorkies. They must think Uni is not a yorkie. I usually will at least smile to anyone with any type of dog. But many times me and Uni have been just downright snubbed when it's a yorkie that doesn't look like Uni. There was one house in the neighborhood, but they've since moved. They had a yorkie that looked JUST like Katie, and we would always look for him if he was outside but the owner NEVER looked at us or smiled. That was the only yorkie in the neighborhood. There was another one, but she was a senior and I haven't seen her in a few years. No doubt she must have passed by now.

| I own a mix and I've never met anyone who looked down on her. They always make comments like, "My dog looks just like her," "Is she a yorkie/mix?" "She's so cute!" Not sure how I'd react to someone saying something negative. Probably just smile and walk away.

| My yorkie is a cottony coated, stubby legged (not sure about short muzzled) girl and she is 18 lbs. with floppy ears. Everyone asks me what kind of dog she is. Very few people I have ever met in the 10 years I have had her have recognized her as a yorkie. I don't recall anyone ever snubbing her because she doesn't look like a normal yorkie but if they did I would just smile and walk away because I love everything about her just the way she is and wouldn't change a thing about her even if I could. I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. I'm sorry that people act this way. There is something wrong with them.

| Some people probably think I am snubbing them because when I have the boys out, I'm usually preoccupied and in my own little world, or the other Yorkie person takes me by surprise -- racing their cars up to us to show their doggies, lol. I'm not always up to being social. On one of our trips to the grocery store, dad stayed in the car with the boys while I shopped. I had barely gotten back in the car when a man holding a Yorkie knocked on my window. I was exhausted after working, the park and shopping, and wasn't feeling very social, despite how cute his doggy was. I was nice, but I got the feeling he was disappointed that we didn't want to stay and talk about everything Yorkie. Maybe when you encounter these people, it isn't always about the dogs.

| I think a lot of yorkie owners just aren't as into their dog as I am into mine I've met a lot of people that don't have a clue about the specific needs of a yorkie (walking their pup on its collar, call it a teacup etc) and are not interested in talking about their dog. It is interesting the different type of people out there. I also think that not everyone is social... You never know. I don't know that I've been 'snubbed', too much but I do occasionally get the "Oh, I have a yorkie too, but he's half the size of yours!" lol. Like it's a competition for who has the smallest dog...

| Winston is the one doing the snubbing here. He just ignores people and other dogs, he'll walk around them and keep going. I don't know why, he just seems stuck-up to me. If I stop to chat with someone, he'll just look away totally oblivious to anyone around him. I've never had anyone intentionally snub us, maybe it's being from a small town, I don't know, they all seem very open to us...if Winston would just be nice....

| Maybe it's a CA thing, lol. We get ignored/snubbed by other yorkie owners all the time. It's so weird. It seems more like ignored, actually. I'm always excited to see other yorkies, but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual much of the time,or the doggy parents don't notice us. I don't take it personally...usually, though I did at first. I do realize I'm totally yorkie-obsessed and not everyone feels the same way (silly them). I hadn't noticed a particular type that snubs us, but there are a lot of tiny yorkies around and I usually have P-nut the 10.5 lb. teapot with me when snubbed. So, we may be facing size discrimination in our area. Last edited by P-Nut Mom; 08-03-2013 at 10:15 PM. |

| I have noticed that Mina will snub other dogs, unless they are yorkie or poodles. I guess because that is what her siblings are. As for humans she doesnt warm up really quick to most people,,,unless they own a yorkie and their baby is there too. |

| My experiences do not include getting snubbed by any other Yorkie owners.....having a Yorkie is like having a Harley! Other Yorkie owners acknowledge and wave and smile....I do not expect them to come visit or socialize with us, but I have never experienced being snubbed......I have Yorkie decals on my car window and personalized plates "YORKIE", and I have people honk and wave and just be friendly when they pass by on the freeway! You know immediately, "Ah, another Yorkie owner!!!" |

| NYC loves their Yorkies We don't get snubbed. It's the exact opposite. When I'm with one (or more) of mine, people will come up to me & start telling me all about their Yorkie - even if they don't have their pup with them. I've had 30 minute conversations with people in parking lots. It's actually a little uncomfortable sometimes. We know all of the Yorkie owners along our walk route & it's sort of required to stop and have a quick converstion if they happen to be outside.

| When Charlie (15 pounds) was alive he would run with us at the park. Occasionally we would see other yorkie owners with their dainty tiny dogs. I couldn't help myself but say, "What a cute yorkie! Charlie is a yorkie too." Most of the time we got the yorkie snub. Charlie just wasn't turtly enough for the turtle club.

| I get snubbed all the time by other Yorkie owners!!! It's okay, I have a pretty thick skin. Sophie Kate is far from the perfect example of the Yorkie breed but to me she is perfect in every way (well except for that time she chewed up my floor boards in the family room).
