I'd have done the same as your granda. Glad she's okay

God I hate people like that, and it seems like so many of them own pit bulls. We have some idiots in my neighborhood who let their cats run free and I had to jump in and save their cat's life one time when it came into my back yard and was about to get killed by my 12 lb yorkie Minnie (RIP ). Minnie had the cat cornered after digging her claws in and ripping said cat off my back fence when she tried to run away from Minnie (Minnie was so deceptively athletic).

Michelle, I am relieved that Khloe escaped unharmed! I can imagine how terrifying this ordeal was for you, your family, and little Khloe.

How frustrating that the loose dogs' owner never left his porch to try to control his dogs, and that he had the nerve to say they were friendly. I have been in that situation several times. I don't trust anyone who is foolish enough to think an off leash dog that has such poor recall is going to run up and just sniff my little furballs.

People are ridiculously irresponsible, and it is infuriating to think that their carelessness could cost the life of your little girl or others. Then to threaten your husband on top of it all!

This is a growing problem everywhere. We cannot walk in our neighborhood anymore, not even with one dog at a time. After running into the gigantic guard dog on the loose, no way.

Thanks Kristin. I still cannot believe that he had the nerve to yell at us after his dogs were misbehaving.

I never walk the dogs alone, but this makes me wonder how safe it is even with my husband. It is sad that we have to be afraid of loose dogs because their owners are irresponsible.

Those dogs were far from friendly. They saw Khloe as a snack

That is so scary! My mom lives next to people who have 4 St Bernards that escaped from their fence one morning when we were outside with her Cavalier. I remember looking up and seeing one coming right for us-i was next to her dog. The next second they all had mom's dog on the ground and she was screaming. I managed to get between them and grab her and ran for the garage. It was terrifying! Everybody was OK, which was a miracle in itself. It reminded me how fast things can go wrong, even in your own yard!

I have found that if I walk Sapphire in a brightly colored dress, one of the neighborhood PB pups who usually gives chase sat there baffled and just watched us go by. I can't guarantee that this works for all dogs but maybe it's something you could try...

How awful! Poor Khloe
Please stop kicking yourself, it wasn't your fault in the slightest! That owner should have controlled his dogs and apologized for what happened, his behavior was unacceptable!
At least you and your babies are safe, in the end thats all that matters.

Sorry to hear you had to go through such an ordeal...happy to hear it had a good ending. Make your report to the authorities, maybe something will be done about them running loose anyway.

Thank goodness Khloe is ok. Poor baby to be so scared! Makes my heart hurt to think about her being that scared. It's a shame when people don't control their pets. I hope you husbands knee is ok and that your grandparents are ok after such a scare.

I just can't imagine how I would have reacted after the fact. I mean I consider myself very calm and collected and can easily walk away without feeling like I have to defend my ego when some idiot is trying to push my buttons, but I just can't imagine how angry I would be in your shoes over coming that close to losing your girl.

One thing that might work in the future if you have someone with you to grab your dog is to charge the other(s). I had a pit jump a fence and come at me one time when I was walking down an alley as a teenager; I knew I had no escape so I just ran at it full speed really aggressively shouting angry curse words and the dog turned around and ran like hell away when he saw me coming at him.

Honestly, I wanted to punch the female owner. The male owner threatened to hit my husband and I almost wish he had. He would have ended up in jail, and his dogs would have been taken away. My mom said she felt that a cat fight was going to happen and she was trying to calm us all down. Luckily the gf was able to get her bf in the house, or I'm sure something would have happened. My husband was in the middle of the cul-de-sac ready for the guy to come over.

As for how to react, we didn't have a chance to react. They were so quick! They were at the driveway before we knew it. Thankfully we were able to grab two dogs. I cannot imagine what would happened if all three of the dogs were on the ground.

Oh my goodness, Michelle! What a terrifying set of events. Bless your heart! Bless that run like the wind, Khloe! That girl can haul if she has to huh? That's good to know for sure.

I felt your torment as I read your post. I was crying right with you at the end. I could feel that angst of "what if?" Big BIG Hugs!! Cuddle your babies close tonight and get you some extra Yorkie kisses to fall asleep to, ok?

Please keep us posted on what Animal Control says/does.

Just think how sweet tomorrow is going to be, Michelle. You'll be able to kiss and hug Khloe after coming so close to losing her. I know one of the best days of my life was the day after Minnie almost died from her kidney problems. Vet kept her overnight and pumped IVs into her and I got to come and visit with her for a few hours. I mean that was just true happiness to get another day with my girl when I thought she was gone. And you know that true happiness too with Khloe. Just shows you can never take life for granted.

Wow Michelle. I am so glad everyone is safe. It is so bad to say but I can believe what those people did. Of cause they are going to blame you. They want to scare you. They don't want you to call the police. Pick up each one of your babies and squeeze them a little tighter and kiss on the head.

Smart little Khloe finding a good place to hide. No doubt saved her life! Don't feel bad about not carrying them - everybody forgets or lets their guard down once in a while, especially when such a short distance is involved. I'm just so sorry you were scared to death and upset by the terror of being so helpless there for a while and sorry that jerk of a neighbor didn't take responsibility for his own dogs' actions. What in the world were wild dogs like that doing out off leash? Yorkies off leash can't hurt a fly but big dogs are a whole other kettle of fish.

This is the world we live in now and all I can say is there are times when all these dog-owners everywhere are beginning to make life a living hell for small-dog owners! And we can't count on anything legislatively being done obviously so always being on guard I guess is the only thing to do and that really sucks too. But doggie parents are like parents of little kids these days and apparently we can't afford to relax ever when out of our house or yard with them. That is our new reality - wild dogs seemingly everywhere out and about to devil our peace. Again, I'm just so very, very glad nothing awful came of this except your shredded nerves. Have a little wine or 1/2 a mild tranquilizer tonight and see if that won't take the edge off so you can relax and rest.
