Khloe was almost attacked!! This weekend I went up to Seattle with my parents and my husband to help my grandparents move some things into their new house. Their old house burnt down last summer, and the new one is almost finished, and they needed help with some of the larger items. It was about 9 pm and we were walking out into the garage (which was open) to get into the truck. We didn't bother to leash the dogs because we were only walking about 10 feet and were going to head straight to our hotel. This is when I heard the dogs from across the cul-de-sac come running toward us. I started yelling "no, no, no!" and grabbed Couver because he was within arms reach. My mother grabbed her yorkie Zoey, but we weren't able to snatch Khloe up before the dogs were in the driveway. The two dogs then started chasing Khloe (who was yelping and screaming for her life). The owner was shouting "They are friendly, they are friendly!!" but we were all freaking out trying to catch Khloe who was scared to death. She ran all the way across the cul-de-sac, around the truck, got cornered in the garden and then finally into the open door into the house. We were all screaming and trying to catch these dogs who were chomping at her while chasing her. I thought she was going to die! These were 50-60 pound dogs chasing my 5 pound dog. My grandfather (an 80-year-old man), grabbed a 1" x 2" piece of trim that was in the driveway and was able to swat one of the dogs and it started to leave. The other dog continued to chase Khloe into the house. She obviously found a hiding space because the dog came running out to its owner and Khloe was no where to be found. My father was eventually able to coax her out of her hiding place and was then holding her. Get this, so the male owner, who made no effort to even leave his yard to get his dogs back started yelling at us for hitting his dog! His dog was going to kill my dog, and he thought it was not okay for us to hit it?! He said "How would you like it if I hit you with a 2x4?" WTF (where did he see a 2x4?) He kept threatening to hit my husband but wouldn't come off of his front stoop to talk with us. He obviously saw the size difference between him and my husband and realized he wouldn't stand a chance. He ended up going inside after his gf forced him to, but it was NOT fun. After just having my dog chased around the cul-de-sac, he had the gall to get after us? I just don't understand people. My dogs did not come onto his property and bother his dogs... His dogs came running after mine and my family members were not only worried for the dogs' safety, but for their own! I know this all could have been prevented if we'd carried them, so I'm kicking myself. I'm also mad that I could not catch the other dogs OR Khloe. My husband tried tackling one of the dogs and ended up with blood all the way down his leg. We had 5 adults plus the female owner all trying to get these dogs to stop. None of us could catch them and she had absolutely no control over them. They didn't have collars on, so they were like wet eels in our hands. I wanted to call the cops, but my grandfather insisted that I not. He is just moving back into his house and doesn't want to cause a disruption. I do however plan on calling Animal Control on Monday to report the aggressive dogs. I just wanted to post my experience to let people know how quickly these little guys can be taken away from us. Khloe could have lost her life and it would have been all my fault. Please take extra care with your babies and I hope that no one has to experience what I did... Watching my baby scream for her life, running as fast as she could to get away. I am crying right now thinking about what could have happened and if this makes even one person more cautious with their babies, it was worth posting. |
OMGosh Michelle...how scary is that!! Thankfully Khloe is alright...I would have lost my mind...the gall of some people!! |
oh crap!! wow! Your poor grandparents... after all they have been through to have to now live accross the street from that! I am sure there has to be some regulations about dogs off leash etc .. but that does not really help that much. I am so very glad your family and all the dogs are ok. I hope there is some way to prevent this happening again. It at least sounds like the girlfriend or wife whatever tried to help. Maybe now that they know another dog is living nearby they will be more careful. Good luck.. and tell your grandparents happy they are almost ready to have their new house! |
Wow that is just ridiculous. I cant believe that the man blamed it on you and your dog, really! I am so glad that your baby was not injured and don't beat yourself up over it, none of what happened was your fault. You had every right to have your dogs on your/your g.parents property off leash. I hope you follow through with the report to animal control. |
Oh my gosh! What a nightmare! I'm so glad that everyone is okay---or are they? You said your husband had blood running down his leg. Did he get bit? And I would definitely notify animal control. That doesn't need to happen again. |
This happens ALL the time....all it takes is one second for another dog, or a coyote, or a wolf, or a bear, or a hawk, or a snake.....you name it, it is lurking there, just waiting for the chance to use that one second, that 10 feet to the car, that 15 feet to the back door, to make a meal of these babies. I have an owner that absolutely REFUSES to carry her baby to her car when they are going someplace...."it is just to the driveway, it is only about 15 feet, been doing it since we moved here, blah, blah, blah......and some day, "it" will happen and her little dog will pay for "it" with her life. PLEASE, dont put your babies in dangerous positions.....you will kick yourself for the rest of your life if something happens, just because it has never happened before, and it was only 15 feet......Thank God your baby did not have a heart attack as she was running for her life.....my cousins little dog went thru the same thing, and that baby had seizures from fright.......sooooooooooo tragic and uncalled for. As far as that man with the rogue uncontrolled dogs.....he is very fortunate that did not happen in MY cul-d-sac, to me and my babies.....I would have shot his dog.....sorry. NOW, mister, get upset....... |

Oh my, I'm glad Khloe is ok and could hide from the dog! That is so scary! I can't understand how the man just stood there doing nothing! That is unbelievable! |

I thought the same thing too... I'm not big on guns, but if I owned a gun, that dog would have been history. |
Thank goodness Khloe is OK. I was nervous just reading what happened. The owner of the dog should man up and take responsibility for his dog being off his property. And he should also apologize to your family. I'm glad Khloe is allright. |

Hopefully Animal Control will take care of the rest. |
OMG! I'm so glad Khloe is okay! Also be careful the next time she sees these dogs... she may recall the first time and could still suffer a heart attack! |
Oh my gosh! I'm so glad everyone is alright. I know you were terrified. What I worry about is your grandparents walking their dog. What if those maniacs come after them? Even if they scoop their fur baby up those dogs could hurt one of your grandparents trying to get the pup. |

Oh no I am so sorry to read this. I just think WTH is wrong with people. I am so glad that you all are fine. I do certainly hope that Animal Control will do something about those dog's. |
