I refuse to let someone take the joy of my day away buy their idiot comment about a subject they know nothing about. This person got their teacup poodle mixed up with their yorkie. You know there is no teacup yorkie. I wil never take my yorkies to the banfield vet. I will go to a reputable vet in town. I just have trouble trusting them. Do not hand your precious yorkie over to some stranger unless it is an emergency. I always get a recommendation before I go to a vet or groomer. I have a groomer come to my home so I do not have that problem. I hope you will not take to heart what that person said. She certainly did not know.

Totally agree about Banfield. Courtney, be careful as they have a tendency to over vaccinate! They make that plan of theirs sound like a bargain, but if you ever have an issue and need xrays, they can be super expensive. I have heard many complaints about them over the years. You might want to google Banfield complaints

People at the vet's office (including most vets) have very little knowledge about the breeding of purebreds. The vet's office is a place for the mechanics of the pet's body but knowledge of purebred genetics and quality is not usually found there unless the people have experience of their own outside the office.

A cashier at PetSmart or PetCo would have about the same knowledge base as the rest of the general public. Unless a person has experienced a place like YT or the world of professional and reputable purebred breeders they are as much in the dark as anyone else.

People can be jerks. Its none of the petsmart employees business how you train your dog and I think I would complain. I would have Callie trained to pads if she wasn't so big. Some people don't realize with small dogs there are a whole lot of dangers for them outside. Just lack of knowledge I am guessing on the person at Petsmart. I think having a small dog who looks the size of what people thing is a teacup gives them a great chance to tell people about no such thing as a teacup but if that makes you uncomfortable I would come up with something like nope shes a dog I don't drink my tea out of her or some other funny slightly sarcastic comment. Both seem to be uneducated in small dogs but heck most of use where when we came here.

Yes, I agree with them wanting to over vaccinate. When I first got my baby, I took him there for a checkup(Using their free coupon). My baby was vaccinated from his breeder when I got him. They said that since it was not a vet that the breeder may have not handled the vaccine properly therefore it would be ineffective. They recommend that he should be vaccinated again that day ( he was just vaccinated the day before) . He was only 1.6 pounds. I told them I needed to think about it and will get back to them. So I took him into my regular vet, and she said NO, since he is so tiny, that she does not recommend vaccinating again until 2 weeks later. She states that even if the vaccines were ineffective, she does not want to take the chance of overvaccinating him since he's so tiny. I trust my local vet. I feel that banfield is too commercialized.

Haha yes but I guess I thought the world revolved around Yorkies and everyone would know but it really isn't common knowledge! And believe me I wanted to but I didn't want to make a scene but I was livid!

And that's what I told her! OH! Then I said "well she's a yorkie and"...(I didn't get to finish my sentence) then she raises her voice and says idc if she's a yorkie! I was gonna say they are accident prone AND no ones home during the morning to take her out!

I don't go to ban field I go to a vet that was recommended by a YTCA member in my area and I loved the vet I had today! I didn't see my normal vet but I'm going to start seeing the one I saw today. He was awesome. Very informative!

I'm sorry you had a hard day, some people just plain rude! I once had some girl I never met before rudely insist that Henri was a miniature silky, everyone on here has dealt with people like that.
You are totally right to not take your young pup out when she doesn't have all her shots yet, I didn't let Henri past the driveway either before he had all of his shots.
Just ignore them and keeping doing what your doing, because it sounds like you have a good idea of how to care for your furbaby

We had a similar situation when we first got Snoopy. We were buying potty pads, and the clerk says, "that's just going to make him go in the house." I was speechless at the time, but I wish I would have said, "that's kinda the point". I wonder if the store knows the clerk is trying to stop you buying one of their products.

Hey Courtney I thinks you got the YT blood in ya now...it bothered you?? I'm glad that it bothered you and you said something...good thing I wasn't there!!!! As far as criticizing you at all, next time ask to speak to the manager or say EXCUSE ME, AREN'T YOU RUDE? That usually makes them think. I'm sorry they were idiots, do make sure to email corporate, you might get some training done on those people and some coupons. I just can't believe people are so bold.
