People at the vet's office (including most vets) have very little knowledge about the breeding of purebreds. The vet's office is a place for the mechanics of the pet's body but knowledge of purebred genetics and quality is not usually found there unless the people have experience of their own outside the office.
A cashier at PetSmart or PetCo would have about the same knowledge base as the rest of the general public. Unless a person has experienced a place like YT or the world of professional and reputable purebred breeders they are as much in the dark as anyone else. |
