| ![]() Veterinarians are superior with animal healthcare but in terms of breeding standards and such they don't know more than the average person. Miley was called a teacup ate vet and we all know there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie.

I'm sorry, but I think you missed the point that was stated. You state that you would like to debate these issues but then become offended when you're challenged. You seem to be attacking the messengers without understanding the point of the messages. That's not a form of debate at all. I think there's no reason why a person can't buy any pet of their choosing. That's fine. However, it's impossible to make a blanket statement that purchasing a dog deliberately made from 4 separate small breeds (each with their own inherent, potential genetic problems) is somehow better than purchasing a purebred Yorkshire Terrier. The problem is that your one breeder does not have the bona fides - at least as indicated by her website - to create a "new breed" or better dog. You have not established that you even know the full history of each of the dogs she used to make your dog - you only have the pedigree of your own dog - that's not the historical line of anything. So, if you want debate, fine, have it. It's Ok to be very passionate too. Most of the people here are very passionate about their views. But don't just attack the messengers without even attempting to understand the points being made. That's my 2 cents. | |

| ![]() Vets are educated in general health care of dogs and things that go with general dog health or there specialty but they are unable to know about every single breed and what is best for them as far as breeding minus the general things so they normally go with what the breed's club says. I have been told by a vet when it comes to what is best by each breed the breeders know best and there club knows best.

![]() ![]() General Vets of even just small animals, have a very large range of animals in their practice. Not just dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, et al. They can not possibly know the breed standard of each one, and know for over 500 breeds what is recommended for testing prior to breeding, nor be able to judge each breed type to standard. But what they do well and very well is general health testing, and knowing when a health condition should be referred onwards to a specialist. Also what they can do is advise would be breeders of what all in entailed in breeding, at the minimum through a brochure, and if they should have a pet owner who wants to breed their dog, take a look then at the dog, at what health tests are recommended for this breed, and say why; I think if you want to go forward you need to do the following tests...

Admiration is a two way street Miss Lynzy, and you have mine. Phil is likely ducking this philosophical? debate, not wanting to waste his time on it. Brick walls and stones will eventually be broken down by rain and water; a human's belief maybe only over time. And my Balderdash (loveth that word), and gimble, and slithy, and sinuous, words that kind of roll off your tongue so to "speak". Did gye and gimble in the wake; of yatter and chatter. But balderdash was not directed at OP, I was commenting upon what-ever statements I read which I thought deemed some rebuttal.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I just wanted to give y'all a heads up and say there ARE some AKC breeders out there that use the term "teacup".....I found this breeder Maria Campos's website Home Page on the AKC's website even I was looking for a breeder that had available pups. I'm not trying to join the debate because I understand everyone's viewpoints that have been respectful ![]() |
