I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Maybe we should beg them to close it? Seriously, I think this has been a great thread, people have not denied being rude, but have explained why they are sometimes, and I think that helps others be more understanding of a touch a rudeness now and then.

| There is an ignore function on here. If people don't like how people respond and it's not a violation of the rule here then they should utalize the ignore function. I for one a entirely sick of people commenting about the manner, type, tone, or otherwise off topic response to other people's responses! If you don't like my response, or someone else don't read it, use ignore, why quote me & then tell me how I should or should not respond-I find that rude. I wish there was a rule about commenting on content not style. Please, thank you, have a nice day.

| IMHO, It is all about the tone.. Direct or not, The tone in a persons message stands out. The tone in a lot of the messages here are often condensing. I do way more reading than I do posting here for that reason alone. A lot of the time I am here reading a thread, and say to myself "Wow that was harsh". To be honest, I just have accepted it as the way everything is here, So before I ask a questions I go back years and research posts. The information is great here the other mess is just drama. |

Only time I got upset here and almost left the forum is when people were talking about racism / politics which are heated topics and have NOTHING to do with the care of Yorkies. | |

every time we go out with our boys, atleast one person will come up and say, " how adorable," are they teacups?". This makes my stomach curl usually, but it is also wrong of me to assume that person is an idiot because they do not understand that there is no such thing. There are many issues in the world, and i suspect those very same people will be much more informed than me on many a topic. Yorkies are a topic most many here are experienced with, but the majority of the rest of the world is not. Animal rights, puppy mills, breeding standards and more, are issues many around here are knowledgeable and passionate about, yet the majority of our world is not. My own parents have raised dogs before many of us were born, yet they have no clue about any of this stuff. they have loved and cared for those dogs as if they were their children just like you and I. most of the visitors come here seeking info in the most innocent form( not all) , and most people are very friendly and are able to overlook the lack of knowledge and proper nomenclature, in order to pass on knowledge and truth. but....like the op mentioned, there are those that seem to pounce on people for either asking a question out of ignorance, or using the wrong words. It happens time and time again, from the same individuals. Fortunatly, there seem to be many more people who understand that these folks come here for answers, seeking help and direction, and are not yet aware of ins and out of yorkie world. it is these folks who make this sight so invaluable, and keep the others from scaring or running people off. | Charlene, you''ll get no judgment or condemnation from me, rather, I applaud you for posting. It is a courageous act. I understand what you are saying and agree there is no need for omitting kindness and consideration from a response post. I was raised differently, raised my children differently, and my granddaughter is being raised differently. Because I feel what you wrote is important, I have been writing, editing, thinking about, deleting, and re-writing my response for longer than I'd care to say, wondering if it would be helpful to say certain things or not, so instead I will just say that the fact that Ann felt it necessary to write an admonition thread about 'negativity and where we go from here' on YT should be sufficient for forum members to realize the damage they are causing to the YT reputation. Her thread saddened me so much I had to leave the thread...then I realized it was apparently not the first such admonition thread. I've been giving 'needy' fur babies 'good homes' for 45+ years (despite being 26 years old now...lol) regardless of where they came from and am still not qualified to judge others' actions in this regard nor do I understand why some are judged 'qualified' to make that determination where others who take in these poor fur babies are judged 'unfit' and/or 'unworthy' to be granted 'rescuer' status. IMHO, there is no status associated with helping the needy...rather it is the genuine caring, help, and love given that count. So, yes, sometimes I, too, see what appears to be negativity on YT, and that explains a lot about my posts and threads. I want the YT forum to be a positive force for good and try not to harm it, and I, too, will continue reading more often than posting. However, I still believe there are absolutely wonderful, caring people here and I love that part of YT!!!
