This happens all the time on YT. They know that they can get a higher price from the forum because they are "trusted"..

Yeah I suppose you're right. I am just confused as to why her contract is so good if she isn't a very good breeder. It doesn't make sense why she would guarantee her pups for so long and offer to pay half the vet bills if something goes wrong etc. if she doesn't think they will be healthy. I will attach the contract. Tell me what you think please. Thank you for your help by the way, I appreciate it

Breeders think if they offer them too low of a price they will be considered a backyard breeder, many set them the same price as what you could buy from a reputable breeder who shows. One member of Yorkietalk complained she was only about to get $250.00 locally for her puppies, but she sold them on YT for $1200 plus shipping.

Oh wow, yeah now I am getting very nervous. She seems like a good breeder (check out the link to the contract below) but I am beginning to think I should just stick to HiHopes that I contacted recently..

Maybe because of the economy..most breeders that i know are taking less for this reason or just not breeding

I assume you are from New York State from your name. There are some well established breeders of Yorkies in New York and in the New England states. It would be a good thing if you could get a puppy from someone where you can go and visit the place and the puppies.

You will be able to contact conformation clubs through the AKC site and they will also be able to give you information on breeders in the North East. I know it takes time to track down a breeder that will help you. It is best to talk to a lot of people and gain information. If you just buy the first possibility of a pup you could end up with a lot of heartache. I'm just trying to point you in the right direction. I know Long Island has some experienced breeders. It also has some great scammers so look for some one that has had genetic testing done and has a very good contract that protects you as well as the seller.

Oh trust me I understand, I am looking for advice so thank you for your input! I actually live in Manhattan haha so when I looked breeders up in New York State they are about 6-10 hours away (New York State is pretty huge!) There are NO reputable breeders in Manhattan, there is simply not enough space so I have actually contacted about 15 breeders from the YTCA breeder referral and have found a few that have litters available then so I might just stick with them. I really liked HiHopes Yorkies, not sure if you've heard of her but she seems very nice and knowledgeable. And she is registered on Yorkie Talk too I believe!

I'm sure they can give you names of other breeders that may be near to you. Sometimes it's better to get on a waiting list. It lets a breeder know that you are really serious and not just looking for a cheap deal. Once you get to know some of these people they may give you names of other contacts that they have that are known to have puppies. They will not refer you if they think you are not a reputable buy. You can understand why they would protect each other from potentially fly by night inquiries.

From what I see of the contract you linked to there are various loopholes and questionable areas. It is doubtful that anyone could get some of the genetic issues mentioned diagnosed in two days. Some of the other things mentioned that she will not help treat can be costly. You may get a better price from her but I would be very skeptical with all the problems Yorkies are suffering from right now. Also, if she is presenting the actual weights of her dogs then I agree it could be a red flag. Buying a Yorkie is not as easy as we would like to think. I also am contemplating getting another and it can be nerve wracking.

Yup, after seeing someone willing to sell pups that way I'd definitely reconsider this breeder! Goes to show what good research will find Keep researching!

I contacted HiHopes when I was looking (well, my husband did). She's a reputable show breeder in New England. I didn't buy from her because she had no puppies available at the time.

I personally would not have a female spayed until she is 6 months or older because it gives them time to grow and have a good weight on them plus you will know around that time what baby teeth are going to need to be pulled instead of getting spayed and then possibly having to go back under and get teeth pulled. I also am not a fan of shipping don't think it's good for the poor pup. But I think it's great if there is someone who is on the plane and the pup is on the plane with the person or if you fly and get the pup and she flys back with you. Cargo is not a good or safe place for dogs in my opinion and I know lots of people fly them that way but lots go missing and get sick.

I think I will stick with her. I contacter her a few weeks ago and she has a blog of her puppies and they are all beautiful. I think she might be a better option for me!
