Cesar dog food and many of the common dog foods found in grocery stores are low grade commercial foods that contain "meat by products." As navillusa noted it has a lot of artificial ingredients added to make the food look and smell appealing but are harmful to your pet. Meat by products are the parts of an animal that no human would eat and are nutrient deficient. You might want to go to a pet food supply store and look for a high grade food that is natural and does not have a lot of grain in it.
I don't know how bad their teeth are. Some dogs that have been fed low grade foods for several years have bad teeth and have a hard time chewing hard food. Your vet hopefully will get a good look at the teeth and let you know what can be done. |
