![]() OP, it's really easy for us to say, "walk away" or convince the breeder. We're not the ones i the middle. But I hope you understand it truly is in the Roxy's best interest to have those extra 4 weeks with her mom and litter mates. I fear if your breeder doesn't agree, he'll turn around and sell her to someone else. The breeder doesn't sound knowledgeable at all, and he might be overwhelmed with he cost and care of all the dogs he breeds. If he doesn't budge and Roxy comes home at 8 weeks, be prepared for the extra work you'll have to do to fill in the gap her real mom would have filled when it comes to doggy manners, and Roxy's social and emotional development. Some are very successful and have no issues, others are not so lucky.

They can die if the proper precautions are not taken and we have seen it happen many times. No one wants you to go through that; you are too young to deal with all that. That said, you've picked out the puppy ~ you're probably already in love ~ and it's going to be REALLY hard to walk away at this point ~ no matter what anyone tells you about the breeder. Everyone tried to convince me to walk away from my breeder when the first pup I picked out died of liver shunt. I did not listen; I wanted my puppy so bad. I ended up with a dog that has LOTS of health issues ~ as I was warned. So the YT folks do know what they are talking about ~ I just wasn't ready to listen. IF you can't bring yourself to walk away and find another breeder at this point; your best bet is what you are doing now and that is working with the breeder to keep the pup until she is physically ready to come home. Best of luck and please keep us posted.

| ![]() My mother works at home. She will always be around someone. Yes, I have read a ton about hypoglycemia, I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I know enough in case something happens. I've also read a lot about it on here thanks to all of the wonderful people on YT. I've talked to the breeder, and I know you are NOT going to agree with this. But I don't have a choice but to bring her home at 8 weeks, or she will be sold to someone else. I know you want me to walk away, but I've already went to check on her twice, to make sure she is still doing well, I have a vet appointment for Friday, I pick her up Thursday. There IS a health guarantee on her, I am prepared if something happens to her health wise. If I don't take her, I know she is just going to get sold to someone else! And not only have I already completely fell in love with her, as Ringo1 said above, but if I knew that was already a risk for her to come home that early, and she was going home with someone other than me? That would break my heart! I would worry like crazy, because what if they didn't know all of the things I do thanks to you guys? Wouldn't that be even worse for the puppy? I've already made plans for her every day so she won't ever be alone. I promise. I know its going to take a lot of extra work, but I'm completely prepared for that. I'm sorry if you don't agree with this at all but I'm not going to lie to you guys about it, this is what's going to happen. My sister-in-law brought her baby girl Zoey home at 8 weeks old whenever she was even younger than I in high school. And she is AKC registered, happier than could be. And adorable, might I add! ![]()

| ![]() No one is doubting your ability to love this little girl. We just want you to be cautious. Please take extra good care of her. She's really going to need all the extra help you can give her.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() Wow! I think she has gotten the picture! I feel bad when a person comes on here and is so happy about their baby and get told over and over again that the baby is too young, the breeder is bad and on and on. I think she now realizes it is not ideal to get a puppy at 8 weeks but how many of us have. I know 3 of mine were. One had health issues, 2 didn't. I also got a 5 month old from a show breeder who died 5 weeks later due to congenital kidney failure that neither the breeder or I could foresee. I still think anytime you take on a pet their is a risk for health issues and more so for small breeds. That doesn't mean only the very rich should own one. As long as one is prepared thats all you can do. Now she knows she has to be extra cautious and what to watch for and plan for. It sounds like she has a good support system in place, bought insurance and learned a lot on YT. I don't want to lose another person who could continue to learn a lot as she raises her baby. I hope Roxy has a long and healthy life with you.

I agree I have a puppy that I brought home at 8 weeks. I didn't even know I was doing something wrong at the time. She is healthy happy and perfect. I did have excellent vet care and he helped me with advise on food and care. I wish you the very best... we all care and I hope you take it that way!

So I guess you have to be a donating member to join. Sorry! Anyways, I learned from the forum that the drugstore CVS is a great place to buy Cheap and darling, yorkie clothes. Maybe you have one in your town. Don't overlook Walmart and Target's dollar bin. Also lots of people buy baby things from the dollar store and then resew them for their yorkie.

They had a cute pink tee for dogs! The ones I saw were way to big for a puppy, but I know they have cute stuff sometimes. Oh, do you have a Ross near you? I get some of Kaji's stuff from there. Tees or dresses are as low as $5, and sweaters/warm jackets are under $12. Some of my favorite items I got from there. One last place that I just Remembered has some nice things is the dollar section at target. They have hooded tees, and regular fees there for $2.50. You can spoil Roxy without breaking the bank! The target dollar section sometimes also has squeaky toys for $1.
