Help Needed... Greatly Appreciated! I've been saving for a while to buy a Yorkie, for I made the decision to get one a long time ago. So I found the perfect baby girl, and I'm bringing her home next Thursday. Her name will be Roxy, for those of you who don't already know... Because I yak about her A LOT. LOL ;) But in order to pay for her, it will be taking basically all of my savings. And I'm on a strict income, which leaves me plenty to get her food, hygeine products, etc. so there's nothing to worry about there, trust me. I want to spoil her so bad! Because she is going to mean the world to me and more, of course! But I don't quite have the funds to go out and buy all of the extra things for her, as I'm a senior in high school. I'm wanting a companion to take with me when I have to leave home! I wanted to get the potty training puppy days over with whenever I'm still home, for it will be easier for the both of us I'm sure. I feel awful asking this, and I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea and think that I'm taking advantage of what a wonderful place this is, its just kind of becoming my last resort. I was wondering if there was anyone out there with clothes that maybe their yorkie had grown out of or just didn't like or maybe just didn't want or use anymore that they would be willing to get rid of. Hand-me-downs I guess you could say.. And not just clothes, any little thing would me AMAZING. I know what wonderful people are a part of this place, and I'm also new, so PLEASE don't take this the wrong way. And if no one wants to take part in this I COMPLETELY understand, but I just thought it would be worth a try. Thank you all SOOO much. :) |
Please arrange pet insurance for her. That way if there is an unforseen illness, you have insurance to cover the vet costs. Our vendors here often have great deals in the New Year. You could check out the Forsale forum for stuff. You want to have a good winter coat for her; as I believe MO is a cold place. What is her weight and measurements roughly |

Also please let us know her size that will help us to see if we have anything laying around that would work. |
Pet insurance sounds AWESOME. I will definitely be checking into that. And I've been to see her once, and she's really small as she is only 8 weeks old. She weighed maybe a pound... She's a little girl! I will also check out that forum. Thank you! (: |
Okay for the Canadian here where is MO? Missouri, Montana, or someplace else? |

She may weigh more than that, I'm realllyyyyy not good with guessing on things like that. I know she is very healthy and where she needs to be, the breeder has assured me that she will be fine and ready to bring home. So I'm going to trust her, for she has shown me everything about her place and answered everything I've asked. And I absolutely will be getting her a harness! (: Thank you guys! |
And MO does mean Missouri! (: |

Good advice! It's really for Roxy's benefit. I'm sure there are plenty of people that need to clean out their pup's closet. I know I have to!!! There are just some things Kaji doesn't wear that need to find a good home. :) An inexpensive way to spoil her with clothes is to make her sweater socks. Get socks from the dollar store, or the 99 cent store and they can easily be made into puppy sweaters!!! :) There's a tutorial here somewhere, I'll find it for you. |
Why don't You consider an adoption? |
Yes, we have a vet that our family has used for over fifteen years. As we have always been pet lovers! (: I pick her up on Thursday and already have my vet visit scheduled for Friday! Thank you all. I know you aren't being rude, I appreciate how much you all care for my puppy and I already!:) |

Sry I missed the fact that she is only 8wks old and about a pound, The Yorkshire Terrier club of America, recommends that pups are not released until 12 wks old and weighing 2lbs. Hypoglycemia in one that young and weighing under 2lbs is a real issue. Who will be with her 24 7 to monitor her well being? Someone needs to if you plan on bringing home a pup that young. Besides which another month means you can bank some more money; to buy some items you really need for her. |
I agree with everyone above, a wellness check with your local vet is absolutely necessary. A good breeder will require that in a contract and the health guarantee, which I hope you are getting with your pup. Plus, your pup will not have had all the required vaccinations yet. I don't want to dampen your excitement either, but healthcare for pups is a harsh reality. Health insurance or an emergency healthcare fund is necessary, especially for a yorkie. Max had a 6 month ordeal with eye problems that cost $$$. |
