| As for the kids in public topic. we have to remember kids are small humans they HAVE to learn how to exist in society. yes parents should take it upon themselves to leave if the children are load or disruptive,no exceptions. I have a good friend who has a child who is autistic and he has been know to throw tantrums his mother and father always leave the building until he calms down. I feel that even if you are sitting in a Denny's or a pizza place you should still have the right to a peaceful meal without a child crying and throwing a tantrum and yelling and throwing food. it's disgusting. I have a 17 year old sister and a 11 year old brother who both have emotional issue from being abandoned by our mother there have been times when they have started to cry in public and sometimes quite loudly however i have taught them to step out to the car and calm down then come back i would never subject the people around me to them crying or yelling

| We take our dogs to eat at places that welcome them-like on a patio. I wouldn't sneak them into a restaurant but I do sneak them into stores and such. Sometimes, we'll get to-go and just eat in the car with the (fur)kids. |

My husband was like that too, though. If he found a hair on his food, he would have a quiet word with the manager and walk right out. Course Americans got really fat once the country stopped smoking and drinking coffee all day. I think Europe still smokes way more than America. If you look at old American movies, newreels and TV shows where people smoke alot, they are almost all thin. Oh, well, I still love all doggies even though I don't like to eat in restaurants next to them!!!

Europeans may smoke more than Americans but that is not the reason they are more skinny. Europeans generally eat healthier and less greasy and fast food. They also walk/bike a lot more..no driving needed to go to the grocery store. Well we are a little off-subject lol | |

| I think we are all just going to have to agree to disagree on this topic..lol..I respect everyone's views, but I still think that taking a dog into a resturant where you know they arent allowed is breaking the rules and disrespectful to others and the owners of the establishment. Even if they are discreetly in a carrier, and how can you possibly know if you have caused an allergy attack on someone else, everyone has different symptoms. Itchy rashes, etc. that might show up later not at that direct moment. JMO

| This is probably a hotly debated topic. I did not read the whole thread. Although I am not all that much a rule follower I know whatever applies to me applies to everyone. Sooo although my boys are clean and UTD on shots and all that good stuff, other people's dogs may not be and I certainly do not want them in a food store or restaurant where I am eating. Food stores, restaurants and Emergency Rooms, I don't think pets need to visit those places unless they HAVE to.

![]() I remember when Homedepot allowed pets until one day we went there and we were told it wasn't allowed anymore It was terrible on us because we barely leave our furkids home alone. But talking to the manager, we learned that some people did not clean up after their dogs, some were large breeds, aggressive and/or loud. I picture myself shopping and having to worry about stepping on #1 or #2 or the loudness, etc. HB was upset and told the manager that not being able to shop with our pooches would put a big damper on our willingness to spend our money there. But, I got it Not everyone takes care to make it pleasant for the rest of us too, so we all pay. I love Long Horn and I used to eat there at least twice a week (now only 1-2 a month because my pooches aren't welcomed) I wouldn't have minded small pups at the next table, but a huge St-Bernard, Bulldog, etc., drooling/slobbering...I don't think I would have enjoyed my Filet Mignon. So I figured it MUST be fair across the board. If my little ones were welcomed, so must ALL other pets be welcomed (even lizards ??). I make sure my babies are clean and not wondering all over the place. In short, I want it to be a nice experience for everyone, but my opinion of making it pleasant for everybody may differ from everybody else's opinion. So, we eat out and patronage places where it is clearly stated that my babies are welcomed and everybody's happy ![]() I can't wait to go to Europe where I hear it's very animal friendly everywhere

| Just had to let PA people know...we were at Hostetter's Hardward Store this past week, got a weber grill, and we had pup in carrier. Employee that helped us made a point to ask us if bringing in our pet helped decide if we shopped there. We said yes. He said please tell friends that have pets, Hostetter's is a pet-friendly store and welcomes customers with pets. We live in the Lancaster area, so if anyone lives in this area, Hostetter's welcomes pets. I don't mind a pet in a carrier next to me in a restaurant or a service dog. We actually tend to gravitate towards stores that welcome our little one - she lies in her carrier and you never hear a peep from her. |

But I don't do it in closed-in restaurants or where there's food, like grocery stores and such, for obvious reasons, plus it would be torture for my babies not being able to sample something that smells like CHICKEN
