When we first got the Sherpa carriers, I opened them up and laid them on the floor in our living room where I found them both curled up inside and sleeping several times. When we traveled over Christmas, I actually saw a smaller French Bulldog in a large size Sherpa!

I called the only other airlines flying where I needed to go and got the same answer. Very frustrating when the flight I took before this one a lady (very large herself) had a child supposedly 2 yrs old in her lap. The kid had to be 4 if she was a day! She squirmed, kicked, and was causing all sorts of noise. The mom had also taken BOTH under seat storage spaces so I had to use the overhead area for my bag. Luckily the flight wound up underbooked and the flight attendent asked if I would like to change to another seat before we actually took off (which gave the BIG 2 yr old her own seat). I could hear her back there the whole flight and kept thinking, my sweet Annie can't sit in a seat if I pay for it but this kid gets to throw a fit and win her own seat! Ah well -- I usually love kids! Just not misbehaving ones whose mom is cheating the airlines and taking away from my peace and comfort.

| I did get to see the other side of my argument though. When discussing the frustrations of trying to fly with my yorkies, a lady in our group of College parents said she is surprised that they allow dogs to fly in the cabin at all. She said her son is so allergic that if that happened, he would have to get off the plane. Just being in the same room will have him broken out in hives and experiencing breathing difficulties. I did not realize some were that allergic. I told her my yorkies were not allergic for most people who have canine allergies. But the idea definately got her worrying and concerned and she did not seem comforted by my claim of non-allergenic dogs. She said she would find out before he flew the next time if there was a way to be notified in advance if a dog was going to be aboard. I can see if he would have a violdent reaction in the same room, the recirculated air in an airplane might be a problem. Still, I think they would use hepa filters so that might help. I get to thinking of my pups as such loving additions that I think ANYONE would love them too! I guess that is not quite the case. We do have to be cognizant of the people who do not like dogs are worse, are so allergic.

I have heard this argument from anti dog people before- however, the airlines and experts shoot this down pretty fast. They say that you are exposed to more animal dander walking around everyday then you are with a handful of pets IN carriers on an airplane. People who have cats and/or dogs who shed walk around with pet hair/ dander on them all the time. So they say if you are so allergic that a dog under the seat is going to cause such a reaction- you likely can't function in normal society anyway and therefore probably aren't on a plane. There could be no dogs on a plane but you get seated next to the crazy cat lady whose clothes are covered in cat hair- heck! when I lived with one cat most of my stuff had cat hair all over it!

| Could it be due to noise? If one dog barks, and that gets another barking, it's easier to control 2 dogs vs 7. Just a guess.

| I love that DogJaunt site! I have yet to fly with my 15-16lb Jackson but know I will have to, I'm sure, someday. I loooovee that site. It lists out all the weight requirements and measurements, etc. I saw an airline approved carrier in Target and I know Jackson would fit in it laying down and be able to turn around.

| Interesting. I checked the dogjaunt site and it said Delta allowed 2 in First Class, 2 inBusiness, and 4 in Coach. When I called about my flight they said they only allowed a maximum of 2 per flight (no separate numbers for each class). But now that I think about it, it was some small airlines flying as Delta......can't remember now what it was. Maybe that was why the difference -- smaller aircraft, different rulings. Ah well -- they wound up with no pups on their flight because of charging MORE for the pups than for ME!

| I flew with my 7 lb puppy internationally. I got a soft travel crate for him... even when laying down his bag didn't really fit underneath the seat so it was sticking out a bit. The attendants didn't say anything about it though. Maybe guess as long as your willing to lose your leg space they won't really care.
