| If a person want to have a dog but don't want to hear him or her bark , they just have to buy plush puppies . |

| Jennifer, I cannot live with that. I believe it is one of the reason's I am so very proud of what I do and how I do it. I have never supported pet stores and never will. I wish they would all just close down once and for all. But we're in America, land of the free, so we will continue to see them. Educating the average puppy buyer is our greatest weapon at this point. Thank God for the sweet little lady I met years ago that was nice enough to allow me to have my first yorkie and to open her home to me to see for myself how much she truly cared about her dogs. Without people like her and many others out there, those pet stores would really be booming in sales of puppies. The loving, caring breeders out there, hobby or show, are the reason that there is no excuse for anyone with half a brain to ever help keep the pet stores selling puppies in business. |

I am sure that sort of cruel and inhumane treatment does occur in this world and it is disgusting and unfogiveable and should be punished, but I just felt everyone should know that not everyone who has made the decision to debark their dog did it in this cruel way. Some used the surgical and accepted veterinary procedure to accomplish a reduced volume to the bark and they did it in some instances to save the dog's life.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | how terribly sad...whats even sadder is all her sisters and brothers out there across the country going thru the SAME fate. Kim - I understand why you posted about this... I THINK - but let's not forget - De-Barking in any form is inhumane - and I really don't think the majority of Dogs are getting actual surgery - I think they're getting the ROD....so trying to say it's humane and easier than getting spayed is giving out the wrong signals here. No offense but I really find it odd that someone would say this is Humane |

| The woman told me she had her surgically debarked, along with a few others I assumed. No matter which way its done, its completely ridiculos...but at least I feel a tad better knowing it was done surgically and not the other way. |

| I think which ever way it is done it is cruel The metal rod way is just sickening. I cant believe people could be so barbaric to do this to a living thing.

| It is despicable... either way.. Bottom line is, if you want a dog that doesn't bark... Get a CAT!

Vets perform the surgery legally so it is apparently not inhumane by veterinary standards. (of course I am only referring here to surgical debarking and not the obvious "inhumane form" of debarking mentioned in this thread). For example, I consider tail docking to be inhumane and cruel yet it is done everyday by vets and breeders so it is also apparently not inhumane by veterinary standards as they currently exist in our country at least. Sad but true.

I agree! Im even thinking of asking her to come down on her price since the dog does not have the ability to really communicate with us.
