| ![]() My dh and I went to Subway today. As we pulled in, there was a blue car that we pulled beside of. My dh went in to get out sandwhiches and I knew we probally had a while to wait because I could see so many people in line. (We were parked right in front of the door) My dh said, we'll be back sometime and we laughed. I sat outside in the car with our 2 yorkies that we take everywhere with us. About 10 minutes of waiting in the car all of a sudden I see a little dog jumping in the car beside of us. He was trying to get to the cracked window, I guess to get some air. I opened my door and looked the car over and to see if the car was locked which it was and all the windows were rolled up except for a little cracked at the driver side. I couldn't even put my finger in that crack. I was so mad ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Good for you! I'm not sure what further you could have done. 911 is what I would think of too. Maybe the local police? I know it was 90 some degrees here and I wouldn't even walk my dogs outside in this heat MUCH LESS leave them in a car. What a jerk. I hope the dog doesn't pay the price for his stupidity.

| ![]() Oh my...I would've been in jail for breaking into that man's car to relieve that dogs suffering! ![]() I think a fair punishment for people like this is to put them in a hot car locked and see how they like it! ![]() However if I didn't want to go to jail...I probably would have exaggerated the condition of the dog to get that idiot 911 operator to do the right thing...or take down the license plate number and maybe reporting it to Animal Control...or video tape the whole thing and turn it over to a news channel...argh! People with no brains...it's sad!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() That is horrible. I can imagine how frustrated and scared you were. I think animal control may be able to do something if there is one on the area.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() My hubby is a police officer and he said that if the dog is in distress and you can clearly see it, then you have the right to knock out the window to save the animale..and there is nothing they can do about it.

| ![]() The 911 operator should probably have just connected you to the local police right?! Don't some states have laws that you CAN'T leave your dog in the car? Or county laws? I see a sign in our Giant grocery store about it that popped up this summer so I'll have to see if it's a law or just a caution to people. Any chance you got his license plate? You could call it in to animal control. |

| ![]() I've seen dogs locked in cars and I have not hesitated to call the police. Fortunately, they've always responded quickly and efficiently... Sorry you had to deal with that. It sounds like it was really draining for you. You did all you could and hopefully next time that guy will be more considerate to his poor dog now that you made him think about his actions.

| ![]() This is for Maryland... Post Now - Police: Dog dies in hot car in Md. It says it's "against state law to leave a dog in a car unattended in a way that endangers it's life or welfare" So I guess that means in the fall on a cool day you can run inside Subway and grab something but any warm-ish day you cannot... or am I misinterpreting this? |

| ![]() I am so sorry you had to witness this poor dog in a hot car.I would have been so mad.I keep a note pad in my car and write a nasty note and stick on the car and tell them police have been called so they stress about it. It really is way to hot for these poor animals to be in a car in the summer. Some people are clueless. The 911 operator should have been more helpful. I witnessed this at walmart once took there plate down went inside to have the manager tell me its against store policy to get involved & that I needed to call animal patrol. So I called animal patrol a few times and no one picked the phone up. |
