Senior Yorkie Talker | I agree with the posts. Celine can look uncombed in less than an hour. I have a cat collar on her so if she has any jolts or snags it will come off. She is micro-chipped. You could be right in your suspicions, it is so hard to know! I am so glad that you saved her!!!! Good luck! Keep us posted!! Would love to see a pic!

| Awe, that poor baby. Thank you for picking him up and taking care of him. I am glad you are going to try to find his owners. As others have mentioned, we have no idea just how long he's been gone or what circumstances brought him to his current condition, lost while on vaccation, or stolen. You never know. Please keep us updated on this little guy. It breaks my heart that he has lost his family and I hope you are able to reunite him with a family that is desperately looking for him. |

| I hope you are able to find his owners. As others have said his condition might be due to just being lost. Most yorkie people that I know, do not put collars on them, it matts their hair |

| good thought. Neither of mine wear collars, only harnesses when we are out. And, if someone did steal this little guy, they would probably get rid of the collar. |

| And then when they are lost there is no way to know whom they belong to and no way to know how to reach the owners. This is an ongoing issue with me. I'm a firm believe that they should all have a collar, tags, and be microchipped. If you take notice the owners that have posted in the past about their Yorkies having run away/lost none had been wearing a collar. When my 3 got out they all had on collars and I had them home in less than an hour.

| It's not about matted hair, it's about collapsed trachea.

But if you walk your yorkie on a harness, I really don't think CT is a big issue. I've personally never read about a dog getting CT simply from wearing a properly-fitted collar and not being pulled/tugged/walked with it. I'm sure there's a small risk of it but to me there's risks in nearly everything we do with our dogs and a dog wearing an ID tag and collar greatly outweighs the cons of NOT wearing one. I remember as a kid growing up in a neighborhood... we had probably 15 dogs throughout the 8yrs we lived there that wound up near our house or street. We would get them, read their tags, call the number and they would immediately be returned home that day. It happened oh so often.

| i'm glad i read this- maybe i should get Keoki a collar- he has a harness with his tags on it and is microchipped but we have been staying mostly in the country at my moms this summer and I take his harness off when he is inside but he does go out in the backyard( harness not on)- that is a risk that I would be worried to take- I guess I was always worried of leaving a collar on him in case he chocked when I was not around. Sorry to post this in the found yorkies thread- I am glad you picked him up and see what happens with the microchip- I kow you will do what's best for the little furbaby- keep us posted |
