We are going out of town for one night to attend a funeral. We may have to bring our furbabies with us because I don't have anyone to watch them on short notice. We do have a Kwigy Bo carrier that I have had them in when going to the store, hairdresser, dentist office, etc. Do you think it would be okay at a no pet hotel? They are very quiet, and I know we would have to let them out away from the hotel poperty.

I know this is bad but when my boyfriend checked into his hotel he walked to one of the exits that leads to the parking lot.. I waited outside for him to open that door and I snuck in with my lexi in her little carrier..

so you may want one person to check in, and you'll bring your babies through a door other than the main entrance.

I would advise against it. Technically, the hotel could kick you out at any time and charge you an extra fee for cleanup (even if there is nothing to clean).

I stayed at a pet-friendly hotel one night and Max let out two barks --ruff, ruff -- at 9 a.m.in the morning while we were packing. The front desk called and told us we would have to leave, which we were doing anyway.

The hotel staff may be sympathetic to you, but you can probably count on an upset guest reporting you if they see a dog.

I tend to be a rule follower on things like this.

I worry about what happens "if" they do bark while you are out? There are all kinds of thumps and bangs in hotels that are strange. If they are heard can mangmt. enter your room? I have no idea about policies in no pet hotels.

I would play it safe and find somewhere they are welcome.

Excellent point.

I was required to leave a mobile number with the front desk to contact me in case of barking or other problems (not that I intended to leave the dog alone in the room).

I don't know if you have a La Quinta Hotel near where you are going but they are a great pet friendly hotel. I just went to Fla. and so many dogs were there and no one could care less about a bark or whatever. I would highly recommend the La Quinta to anyone traveling.

Its probably best to find a pet friendly hotel, because they could kick you out if they find out. I took my baby with me on a weekend trip when he was a few months old (i to didnt have anyone to look after him) and we snuck him in. He didn't bark at all. But its up to you if your feeling like a rebel or not

Drury Inns are great for pets!

I wouldn't chance it. If the maid accidentally opens the door, even with you in the room, and they do it all the time, one of your babies could run out and there would be no accountability, let alone assistance.

You have to think about who is going to watch your dogs while you are at the funeral. If MGT doesnt know they are there, then you have no recourse if house keeping or maint. comes in and steals your dog!
The workers will know it is against rules for you to have the dog there and there would never be proof of who entered your room.

I say take the advice of others and try to find a hotel that is dog friendly

What city are you going to? Check out Kimpton Hotels. They are extremely pet friendly and have a pet day spa

I absolutely agree.

Even worse, the hotel can go in and confiscate your dogs while you are gone. This happened to some guests at the Atlanta Hilton in May. They were there for the Maltese National Specialty being held there and it was supposed to be a dog friendly hotel. Apparently one night a few groups of people left the hotel for dinner and other guests complained about the barking. The dogs were taken from the rooms (in their crates) and removed to the basement until their owners returned, then they were asked to leave.

Pet Friendly is my first choice

, but, there are times when it's not an option...I've checked into hotels that are "exterior entry", where you don't have to go into a lobby or inside the hotel to get to your room, we've been ok.....

We would turn the TV "loud"

when we were gone and always put him in soft sided crate in case housekeeping or someone HAD to enter.....

We were in a similar situation years ago. It was only for one night, we arrived at close to midnight and we hid my son's lab puppy in a hockey bag to get into the Marriott : ) She never made a peep and all was well.
