| I can't believe such a thing should just be sweepted under the rug. Do you know of an attorney you could talk too for suggestions? I am so sorry for your loss. What a terrible thing to happen. R.I.P. sweet baby. |

| You knew the dog was vicious and yet you did not secure your side of the fence? This is indeed a tragedy that could have been avoided if you had taken the proper measures. Poor puppy! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm sorry, if I said something that didn't sound sympathetic, because I really feel badly for her. I know I would be devastated, but I would also feel fearful.

| So sorry for your loss. I don't know anything about US law. In the UK it would be a civil matter. But if the dog was found to be dangerously out of control the owners could be prosecuted. Its something nobody ever wants to go through and I think it has been made worse, if it could be so, is that your neighbours are not accepting what their dog did and haven't even offered to pay any compensation. As for the fence, if it is a dangerous dog I would certainly get it fixed so that the dog couldn't possibly get near your children. Thinking of you x

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | First I am sorry for your loss. I'm not sure of the laws of your county/state - but irrespective of laws if you truly believe that this dog is vicious I would definitedly make sure that your fence is fixed so that your dogs can't go into or be pulled into another yard.

| You could request that they install a 6 ft chain link fence or better yet a kennel with a top, as you now fear for the lives of anyone that comes in your yard, as this dog now has the taste of blood and presents a danger. So sorry for your loss.

| im soo sorry for your loss maybe instead of looking into a new puppy you can rescue a yorkie and bring a dog back into your life that needs someone to love it

| Why not consult a lawyer just to check on what can be done. Maybe a strong letter written by him/her with a suggestion for payment might scare them into cooperating and making an offer of restitution. I am so sorry your family had to witness this. I can't think of anything more horrifying for a little dog or for a family to witness. Pay no attention to the couple of posts that sound like they are scolding you. That is the last thing you need right now but those members are fairly new to the board and newbies don't always pick up on the finer points of message boards. We know you came here for help and comfort not lectures. You are in pain and that is enough for you to experience right now. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. |

I'm so sorry for your loss. I look at all the big dogs on my street and think how easily this could happen. If their dog got loose; if my dog got loose - it happens. None of us are perfect; well, at least not me. I'm sorry for your little girls that they had to witness this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. | |
