| I am soooo mad!!! So I picked up marley today and I am disgusted. I posted " I am sad" about not wanting to take her to the kennel. I should have listened to my gut. We were gone from the 1st thru the 6th. I called on the 3rd to see how she was doing and to ease my mind. NO ANSWER! I called all day and finally left a message. NO CALL BACK. I continued to call everyday until this morning when we went to pick her up. We got there at 9:57. They open at 10. The lady opened to door because it was locked and my DH was banging on it. She told us that she would have to charge us $35 for an early pick up if we did not wait 3 more minutes. Are you kidding me!! So we waited of course. When marley saw us she went nuts and barking and jumping. I ran to her cage and thats when I became highly pissed. She was covered in urine and her eyes were all crusty. Her cage smelled like urine and fecal matter and a mess. Her food bowels from home were missing and replaced with big ones for like a lab or another dog of that size. When I got her out of the cage she kept wanting to bolt for the door to leave. Red Flag! I asked where my food bowls were and the lady acted like she didnt know what i was talking about. I had to go look for MY bowls!! She handed me all the supplies i had left ( urine covered bed and blanket!!! ) all her treats were still there( they had not given her any!!! ) and her food was almost untouched!! I asked her why no one returned my calls and she said that she didnt work that weekend and she would have someone call me about it. I got my baby home and poured 1/2 cup of kibble and she gobbled it all down!! she never did that before! Then to spoil her I cooked a 1/4 size chix breast and she ate all that too!! To top that off she was slurping water down like no tomorrow!! They must have starved my baby!! After she ate all that I thought surely she would puke it up but she didnt. Then the kennel manager called. My DH wanted to talk to the lady but he was so pissed I thought that was a bad idea. I can be more tactful. So I asked my questions and she told me that they are closed on the 3rd to observe the holiday but someone was there to take care of the animals. Yeah so why didn't they call me back I asked. So the lady tells me they were two new people in training and they don't know how to check the messages. I called everyday like every 30 minutes. You mean to tell me they dont know how to answer a phone?... no answer to that one....I said what about saturday and sunday. well we are closed sunday and the same people were working saturday. Good lord, how hard is it to listen to an answering machine. So anyways.. needless to say I will not be taking any vacations that I can not take my baby with me or find someone who i trust and is responsible enough to watch her. I pay good money for you to take care of my dog and leave her with what are supposed to be professionals and come back to find her in a mess and starving. Now I think the reason they gave her such big food bowls is for the days they were closed that someone "supposedly" came in to take care of the dogs. Makes me think they just threw in some food to last a couple days and said screw it. Sorry for rambling but I can't believe what all my baby might have gone through. She is home and bathed and has a fully tummy now though

| I am so sorry you had a bad experience! I kenneled my basset once and when I went to pick her up she urinated like 5 times before I got her to the car (and the first time was a huge puddle) in addition, she was covered in fleas. They had these big signs all over about how if they saw a flea on your dog they would treat with capstar, obviously they didn't pay enough attention to treat any dog with capstar though. Since that time, I have always found somone to dog sit.

| That is absolutely horrible! Lousy excuses, too. What was the excuse for the urine soaked dog and bed? Don't blame you for being mad. I've used Pappy's Lodge in Plano, TX twice now and I have been unhappy both times. No wonder we don't go on vacation anymore. Ugh!!!!

| wow that is so bad! how can they do that to a living thing! thats why i would probably never trust anyone with my puppy! i hate myself when i leave him in a cage when i have to go to work or no one is home and we go out! but after we come home his free and running around! thats so cruel, you should report them to someone! if their professional, then u except the best for the dog! apparently they sound like money is more important seen that u picked her up 3 min. earlier and they wanted 35 dollars.. ridiculous! |

| Awwww. Poor you that sound really bad... I would of be so worry too if the kennel didn't returned my calls for 3 days! That and, the disgusting condition of the place and dogs, It really is unacceptable. You should contact your local animal protection association to complain. You probably aren't the only one that got a bad experience there. I always ask to visit the kennel so I can see if it is clean. Don't expect to found one that is smelling like roses and that is perfectly clean, a kennel is a kennel and dogs constantly have accidents. I found that the hardest part is to found a place with a staff that really love animals... Don't worry about the dog not eating much, they get stress out from the new environment and sometime loose appetite. Since you only have one dog, I would recommend you to found a pet sitter that will keep your dog in is home.Make sure to Ask for reference and call them. |

| That is horrible!!! I have never had to take my babies anywhere before and now I hope I never have to!!! You handled it very well. You should definitely be proud after seeing your baby like that.

| I am sooooo sorry that you, and your baby had to experience this horrible situation and here's what I would do: I would state all the facts in 1,2,3,4, or bullet points, etc...w/no emotions attached, so as to be as brief as possible, and email to everyone on your list, facebook, twitter, and every other form of social media you can communicate with, and I would make sure the kennel was a recipient of your email...Be careful not to make threats, or say anything that could cause a lawsuit, but these people need to be exposed for the establishment that they are...Just a suggestion, but that's what I would do...And I'd durn sure tell everyone you know, w/a pet to never never never use that kennel...Be sure and do blind copies to your email recipients, so the kennel is unable to respond or see any of the email addresses of people in your address book... |

| Thanks everyone for your support I wish I could turn their butts in but nothing would come of it. I live on a military base in Japan. I'm pretty sure its the same thing when it comes to seeing a military doctor. You can't sue a military doctor if you are military. Thats why so many people are skepitcal of on-base doctors and seek second opinions. Because they can't get sued for malpractice. If you screw up on a military base you are pretty much covered which makes me sick. I just will tell people I know not to take their dogs there. I might be contacting the base commander ( big shot who runs the base ) about how deplorable this facility is though!

| Oh heck, didn't realize you were on a base overseas...I do hope you can do something to skew their credibility, if even just on the base you live on...All the best to you, and it may just one of those hard earned life-lessons... |

| Omg........that is beyond horrible. How do people live with themselves? So sorry that your baby had to go through this. People think that I am nuts, but I do not go on any vacation unless my two are with me, cost be damned. So glad that she is back at home, safe and sound. |

| Unfortunately this kind of thing happens often. That is one of the reasons why Ellie doesn't get boarded and if she did, it would most likely be at a vet's office that I trust. We take Ellie-friendly vacations or have family watch her. I would report it to whoever you can.

| Poor baby. She really had a tough time. This just makes me so thankful that I have so many people to watch my dogs and who love them almost as much as I do. I'm glad she's home safe and sound now.
