| We were determined that our little fella wasn't going to sleep upstairs, and put a baby gate across the kitchen door when we first got him. We lasted a week. It was aweful listening to the crying and wimpering, being kept awake, and having to keep going downstairs to settle him. The kids needed their sleep 'cos they had exams, we both work, etc etc. The sleepless nights were taking a big toll. After a week we relented, and put his basket on the landing. He was as good as gold, and didn't make another squeek... ....until about 3-4 o clock in the morning. then he'd come to my side of the bed (i'm a big softie and his mum would make him get back in his basket), and either lick my hand, or gave a quiet little wimper. I'd pick him up and he'd settle down straight away. Now he's big enough to jump on the bed by himself and he sleeps on top of the duvet between our feet. He even goes off to bed by himself at about 10 o clock, whether we are going or not! Oh, and is it just me, or is anyone else surprised at how a yorkie can push you out of bed |

| My Kya sleeps right in the middle! She usually sleeps right through the night, and my boyfriend loves to cuddle her as much as I do! She hasn't shown any dominant traits what so ever, she's very much a follower. She's my little shadow! She knows she's not the boss, and we love having her with us! The first night we tried to put her in her crate...for about 5 minutes! But she cried and made those eyes, it was all over . |

| When I spoke with a trainer...about one of my dogs who was having some dominance issues... he said that I just needed to make sure that I was sleeping above my dog, when it came to the bed... I had been putting my dog on a pillow above my head...I thought he would be safest there...but the trainer said the pack leader sleeps at the top and to make sure my dog was below me and there would be no issue...so I moved him to a little lower than my head...near my waist and no issues since... Now I have 5 in the bed :-)

| When we first brought Harley home, he slept in his crate. We actually had no problems at all with him and crying unless he needed to go potty. Well during one of my dh business trips, I let him sleep with me (we were both missing daddy) and he has been in the bed ever since! Once daddy got home he put him back in the crate but after two nights of crying every hour he got to come back to the bed! Harley does love his crate, when he wants to get away during the day (we never close the door on him), but at night, he is in the bed. His positioning varies throughout the night but once daddy leaves for work, he always takes over his pillow and lays as close to me as possible! I think as long as everyone in your bed is okay with the decision who cares. Whenever we go spend the night at my parents house, Harley likes to sleep with Granddaddy! Jeri and Harley |

| Milo is funny he used to sleep with me than I bought him a bed and put it in my room. He continued to sleep in the bed with me for about 6 months after I got him his own bed then one day he just decided he would rather sleep on his own bed. He starts out the night on mine as soon as I get in bed he leaves to go on his own bed and then when I wake up in the morning its good morning kisses and I get out of bed and he stays in mine. They are so funny sometimes. I would not worry so much for aggression as I would saftey and sanitary you are still dealing with a puppy that can have an accident in the middle of the night, you might want to try a small xpen in the bedroom with you this way he is with you guys and safe at the same time. |

| My dogs sleep with me in my bed. They have submissive personalities. I heard trainers say do not allow your dog on the couch or bed to show the dogs that they are in a lower standing in the pack. If my dogs are aggressive or have a dominant personality, then I would have them sleep on a doggie mat or kennel. My dogs are not challenging my authority, so I have no reason to stop my dogs from sleeping in the bed or sitting on the couch. I also heard that the pack leader should sleep near the front of the bed and the dogs sleep at the foot of the bed too. |

| My little Tucker is not the least bit aggresive. He's a love, and he sleeps with us. He's too little to jump on and off the bed. When he needs to go potty, he starts licking faces. He licks mine or my husbands. This Am, I thought my husband had already put him down to potty. He had not, and Tucker began to bark in a very demanding way. He's just so sweet, and we love to cuddle with him. |

| I got Jemma when she was nine weeks old. The first 2 nights she slept in her little puppy pen. But I live alone and love her so much that on the third night I put her in bed with me. Since 9 weeks of age and now 5 months, she has never had a accident, knock on wood. I usually sleep on my side and she snuggles down by my waist or chest. In the morning she will wake me by licking me because she has to go potty. I've had no problem with her. Once in awhile she'll want to rough house and I immediately stop it. Bedtime is sleepy time. Day time is play time. Fingers crossed, it's all good. Carol and baby Jemma |

| When we first brought Silvia home, she was so tiny that I was scared for her to sleep in the bed with us. She slept in her crate next to my side of the bed. Well, we finally gave in because she whined so much that we couldn't sleep. When she was only about a year old, I accidently rolled over on top of her in my sleep and really thought I'd killed her, because she just yelped and yelped and even peed and pooped on herself. After about ten minutes of me holding her and crying, she wanted down and was fine. She never acted as if I'd hurt her or anything. I really think it scared her more than anything. After that, we went back to the crate in another room, but she whined and whined all night long. So, we gave in again, but we upgraded our bed to a King size instead and we have never had another problem. I think as long as your dog doesn't show any aggression or tend to try appear dominent, then it shouldn't be a problem, but please make sure there is plenty of room for them, because you never know what you will do in your sleep!

I think it depends on the dog and the owner's preference.
